ASC Connections are currently recruiting for a Maintenance & Process Supervisor to work with a well-known steel and mining manufacturer based in the Rowley Regis area.

The overall purpose of the role will be to manage the maintenance and process engineering team and to ensure the smooth running of the plant by undertaking preventive and reactive interventions and defining a corrective maintenance plan.

Our client produces safe, sustainable steel; it is the leading supplier of quality steel products in all major markets including automotive, construction, household appliances and packaging.

Their site is a Steel automotive pressing site with customer including JLR, Honda, Nissan and BMW.

The key responsibilities for the Maintenance & Process Supervisor role include :

  • Process optimization, smooth operation and failure investigations.
  • Project management for development, risk and capital projects.
  • Continuous improvement of the area, monitoring the key parameters in order to detect deviations and analysing the effects of the changes in procedures
  • Responsible for FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) of the repetitive problems, analysing root causes and designing actions to avoid those problems
  • Identification, development and execution of optimization projects
  • Identification and project management of improvement projects to ensure on-time completion
  • Manage the ABB Laser welding, CNC presses and Decoiling machinery
  • Improve the OEE of the line
  • Support and ensure that the TS system is strictly adhered to
  • Assist in the preparation of costs and ensure these are maintained within budget.
  • You must have the following experience for the Maintenance & Process Supervisor :

  • Experience in managing projects
  • Understanding of general steel processing
  • Mechanical and plant manufacturing background
  • Good knowledge of CAD design packages
  • Must have technical background with the knowledge of PLC's and other automotive operating platforms
  • Previous robotic experience (ABB S4C would be advantageous)
  • Supervisory experience, overseeing mechanical engineers as well as teams of staff project based
  • Understanding of Laser Welding and Blanking Presses
  • An understanding of Maintenance legislation e.g. LOLER, PUWER, WAH etc
  • You must be educated to a degree level with a background in mechanical engineering.

    Salary, hours and benefits

  • Depending on experience the pay for this role ranges from £35-£40k per annum, plus a 7% pension contribution.
  • The role is a permanent position working 37.5 hrs per week across 3 shift and asks for the provision of reasonable telephone support for evening / weekend shifts.
  • Provision of reasonable telephone support for evening / weekend shifts. Working hours will be 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm Monday to Friday and nights Sunday 12pm-

    6am and 10pm-6am Monday- Thursday.
