Main Purpose of the role :

You will work to assist the development and delivery of solutions to meet the people needs of the business.

The role will typically involve working with middle managers within the business and requires both HR and business understanding, you will provide sound technical advice and expertise

The person that will be positioned in this role will be expected to support the HR Manager to deliver on business as usual and HR change initiatives and / or projects.

You will be expected to deal with a variety of case work and issues offering consistent advice and guidance in line with HR Policy and Process.

Role holders will be individual contributors working within parameters set by others.

Main Role and Responsibilities :

  • Advise, support and educate Line Managers and DSD to help improve their business.
  • Provide guidance on day-to-day issues such as performance management, formal disciplinary, capability, grievances, long-term sick cases, flexible working and employee disputes
  • Provide affective HR support and advice on employee relation matters that helps to reduce the risks of complex cases escalating to an employment tribunal
  • Recognise opportunities to up-skill and coach Line managers and regional directors to be accountable for their own employee relations issues.
  • Assist Line and Senior Managers to understand and implement policies and procedures
  • Manage and occasionally attend disciplinary and grievance cases with the support and guidance from the HR Manager
  • Give guidance and advise on restructures and redundancy programmes with guidance form the HR Manager
  • Interpret employment legislation improving on current best practise when updating internal HR procedures / documents in agreement with the HR Manager
  • Promote good practice, whilst taking into account the commercial requirements of the business
  • Deal with complex contractual issues
  • Actively promote change
  • Coaching and supporting managers in resolving high volumes of complex casework through to completion
  • Working closely with HR Business Partners and Management to ensure a consistent and joined up high quality HR service
  • Proactively assists in the creation and development of HR Policy and continually evidences process improvement
  • Responsible for ensuring the Company operates in line with Employment Legislation

  • At least 85% of colleagues refer Spicerhaart as a place to work to friends and family

  • Absence is at the agreed organisational target through ensuring line managers follow the process and manage it in compliant manner
  • Information from Exit interviews is reviewed to assist the HRBP to embed learning’s and offer solutions at business level

  • Experience of providing advice on a wide range of HR areas
  • Knowledge of up to date employment legislation
  • Ability to identify and compare risk against the commercial needs of the business
  • Ability to prioritise and be highly organised and driven
  • Exposure to working in a high pressured and forever changing environment
  • Ability to be assertive when dealing with controversial and complex issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    We offer an annual salary of £15,000 - £16,000 for the right candidate, along with a great working environment and excellent opportunities to progress, learn and develop.
