SAC Consulting is part of Scotland’s Rural College, SRUC. SAC Consulting delivers advisory and consultancy services across the rural sector, ranging from all aspects of land management and agriculture to food and drink and policy advice.
The organisation works from a network of area offices located across Scotland.
We have an exciting opportunity in our Dumfries office to take on the leadership and management of this office.
The role is broad; on any given day you can expect to be active with your own customers and project work, working alongside colleagues across the region and interacting with researchers from SRUC.
The scope of the work you do can follow your interests and will be only limited by your ambition and aspiration. This opportunity would allow the successful candidate to lead and develop both yourself and the team focusing on the delivery of SAC’s consultancy services to the area.
Like many of our offices the Dumfries office is located adjacent to a SRUC campus where research and teaching take place.
In this case at Barony and Crichton Farms, where the focus is on Dairy, Forestry and Environmental. You will have scope in your role to connect with like-minded academics and take that knowledge out into industry
Given the area of operation you will have either experience in working with the dairy, beef or sheep industry and knowledge of grassland and cropping systems.
Equally important is a can-do attitude and a curiosity to ask questions and seek solutions working with colleagues and customers you will be passionate about sustaining a successful rural economy.
It will be an advantage if you understand the challenges faced by medium and large-scale rural businesses.
Duties will include :

To be considered for this role you will need an HND, Degree or equivalent in Agriculture or other relevant discipline and proven business experience in a similar field.
FBAAS and FACTS would be desirable as would practical experience of farming and agricultural systems in Scotland. Proven experience of managing and motivating a team is desirable.
