Job Title : Head of Electrical & Instrumentation

The main purpose of this role will be to assume full P&L accountability for SSE Contracting’s Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) business across multiple sites in the UK, including setting the strategic direction and plan to align with the overall company strategy in order to develop the business into the leading E&I business in the UK.
You will be required to lead and manage the business and its people to maximise profitability and revenue, ensuring that it achieves a high proportion of repeat business from customers, ensuring that our approach is tailored to exceed customers’ expectations and that maximum efficiency is achieved throughout all stages of our operations.
In addition you will need to comply with the company governance procedures and deploy company systems and process at all times whilst ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of all our people.
Your Skills and Experience
The desired candidate for this vacancy will be qualified to Degree level (or equivalent) in a construction related discipline plus significant demonstrable experience managing a P&L for a large scale contracting business.
You will ideally have a demonstrable understanding of relevant SSE’s business areas, and in particular be knowledgeable regarding the E&I sector in the UK.
You should have experience and a comprehensive knowledge of JCT / NEC Form of Contracts to support the management of multi-
site projects and possess a high level of commercial acumen and financial management skills. As an individual you will have excellent customer focus and an ability to build and maintain internal / external relationships, excellent strategic business planning skills and a disciplined approach.
As expected you will be required to possess outstanding leadership and teamwork qualities and an ability to adapt to changing and challenging environments in order to meet deadlines.
Additional qualifications including Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS), APM / PRINCE2 or similar as well as proficiency of MS Word, MS Excel, MSP (Project Software) would be desirable.
A full clean UK driving license is essential as travel within the UK will form part of the role
