Job Description We're expanding the team are looking to add a back-end developer to our team with strong database skills.

Ultimately you'll get to be involved in every single part of our stack, and learn a lot in the process. Front end, back end, and big data.

We are a small outfit but growing quickly, so there is great scope for progression with this role. It's very likely that you will deploy code to production in your first week.

We are improving our technologies and processes to make our system more powerful, efficient and scalable and we are extremely open to new ideas from anyone joining the team.

What we are looking for is someone capable in; Data cleaning, Spatial data, Data mining, Combining different data sources (API, DB, CSV etc), Scraping, Managing datasets, Data engineering, SQL (Postgres is a plus), noSQL (eg MongoDB), We have a lot of rewarding projects to work on, on a daily basis.

    We’re not doing that. Useful skills : Knowledge of address matching using address base or similar is a plus, as is previous experience with large data sets, transformation and deployment.

  • Functional Programming. Our main API is written in Scala, although experience of other functional languages or previous Java experience is acceptable as we continue to change and improve the system.
  • Our data pipeline makes heavy use of Postgres (we also write a lot of queries in our API in plane SQL rather than using an ORM).
  • MapReduce. An understanding of these processes and their implementation. Other things you should know : - We use git for version control -
