As a Software Engineer, you'll be playing a key role in the design, installation, testing and maintenance of New Direct Line Groups software systems.

The programs you create are likely to help businesses be more efficient and provide a better service.

Based on requirements, you will be responsible for writing and coding programmes or providing a new software resource.

Purpose of Role Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver innovative products that will lead and disrupt the insurance market.

Own the design, development and test of software solutions across a range of technologies Take the lead and influence business and technical stakeholders to continually improve our products, solutions, tools and processes Key Accountabilities Design, develop and test software solutions Work across multiple software engineering platforms, frameworks and tools to deliver innovative solutions.

Continually look to expand knowledge in new technology areas.

Applyagile software delivery practices, such as test-driven development, continuous integration / delivery, pair programming etc.

Influence stakeholders (product owner & team, business analysts) to shape requirements that you can deliver successfully.

Coordinate technical stakeholders (solution architects, security architects, infrastructure, service management, etc.) to shape maintainable, high-

performing, reliable, secure and cost-effective solutions.

Work in a multi-disciplinary agile team Be a self-starter, take ownership of and drive to resolution tasks, issues, risks and dependencies, escalating to more senior team members only when required.

Work across disciplines (e.g.

testing, business analysis, solution design, DevOps) and develop skills outside your core specialism Continually improve our products, solutions, tools and processes Keep abreast of insurance industry and technology developments.

Take pride in influencing others to challenge the status quo and deliver innovative products and solutions.

Keep track of technical debt and identify and leverage opportunities to reduce it.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Understand the total cost of ownership of your solutions (including licenses, support, infrastructure etc.) and innovate to reduce it.

Identify and actively manage risks within your solutions.

Proactively seek opportunities to adopt continuous improvement initiatives.

Drive efficiency, automation, and software development best practice in general.

Establish, enforce and continually improve development standards, tools and frameworks.

Demonstrate behaviours expected in line with the role (Values) Ability to collaborate with and influence business and technical stakeholders.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to exert a positive influence on a team.

Demonstrate thought-provoking initiatives.

Skills Required Full stack development experience using Java, Spring, JavaScript, relational and non-relational database technology.

Experience with the following development practices : Test automation and TDD, Deployment automation - CI and CD.

Experience with cloud an advantage.

Experience working in an agile team using Scrum, XP experience and preference for pair programming is an advantage.
