The Legal Adviser will be based in our Head office in Marylebone.

Job Description

The Legal Adviser (Non-Contentious) will be required to assist and support the Vice President of Legal Services and the Chief Legal Adviser (non-

Contentious) in providing a high-quality legal service to the HCA Healthcare Uk Group.

This is a full time and permanent opportunity offering a competitive salary package dependent upon candidate experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and providing advice on wide range of commercial contracts. By way of example, preparing and advising on commercial contracts for non-
  • clinical consultancy services, commercial supply of goods and services, equipment leases and maintenance, room licence agreements, Resident Medical Officer secondment agreements, software purchases and licences, overseas agency agreements, confidentiality agreements.

  • Drafting, reviewing and providing advice on engagement tools and contracts with medical consultants. Being familiar with the Private Healthcare Market Investigation Order 2014.
  • Providing advice and support to HCA’s overseas business team and liaising with the US parent company compliance team in an effective manner through comprehensive requests for approval.
  • Being familiar with the key principles of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act 1977.

  • Being familiar with relevant HCA policies e.g. the Corporate Contracts Approval Policy. More generally, being able to advise and train on policy requirements and processes.
  • Assisting in drafting Group Guidance and Policies as required.

  • Advising on data protection issues and the impact on contractual documents.
  • Being familiar with corporate structures, in particular LLPs. Advising on all aspects of setting up LLP joint ventures with medical consultants.
  • Drafting and reviewing related documentation.

  • Advising on acquisitions and disposals of assets.
  • Skills and Experience

  • Post-qualification experience gained in a law firm and / or in an in-house role.
  • Highly skilled in contract drafting.
  • Experience of advising on data protection issues.
  • Experience of dealing with business acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures.
  • Highly developed level of communication and interpersonal skills that enable issues to be explained in a clear and concise manner across all levels.
  • Able to exercise judgement, express opinion and present recommendations impartially, taking into account the needs of the business.
  • Knowledge or a passion for the healthcare industry.
  • Able to work effectively in a team, including in the support of others working in different areas of the team.
