Britten-Norman are the producer of one of the most successful civil aircrafts ever manufactured in the UK and are now the UK’s only independent civil aircraft manufacturer.

We are also a leading aerospace SME, offering a market leading range of aviation related services internationally.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Purchasing Team at Britten Norman Aircraft Ltd. Due to ongoing growth we are now recruiting for a Buyer to join us at our Southampton site.

This role would be a good opportunity for candidates with a minimum of three years’ experience in procurement. This could be as a senior expediter or junior purchaser taking the next career step.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background of working within a manufacturing / technical industrial environment, preferably with raw materials buying as part of their responsibilities.

Primary Tasks

Main tasks will include but are not limited to :

  • Work closely with the existing Supply Chain, to reduce cost, mitigate risks and to reduce overall lead times.
  • Raise Request for Quotes and Purchase Orders in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Working on organisational requirements ensuring logical purchasing takes place to provide for the ongoing requirements of the various projects within the group companies
  • Work to ensure timely mitigation of obsolescence within the projects
  • Key Skills and Attributes :

  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exact approach to all purchasing tasks undertaken
  • Proficient in MS Suite
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities
  • Able to work as part of a small team & on individually
  • Reliable, pro-active and self-confident.
  • Understanding of the aviation industry desirable
  • Minimum Qualification Requirements :

  • 5 GCSE grade C or above including Maths an English or equivalent qualifications
  • Degree in business, economics, relevant subject or similar level of education desirable
  • CIPS or working towards desirable
