The Opportunity

Test CoE Test Lead, Barnwood, Competitive salary and benefits

Join us as a Test CoE Test Lead where you will be required to work closely and pro-actively with testers and project managers at all levels across all teams within NNB.

You will be responsible for supporting the Project Services Test Centre of Excellence with the delivery of testing for BAU upgrades, monthly system fixes or updates and support the wider CoE project remit where resource demands are necessary.

The Lead will work within the CoE test processes and ensure that all testing assigned to them is scoped, planned, managed and executed appropriately.

They will support Core CoE operations such as reporting, template or process updates, team communications and support to the Test Assurance Manager and CoE Manager when needed.

Opportunity to assist with the development of Performance and Automation test offerings, where appropriate to skill set.

This is a fixed term contract for 2 years.

They will be required to follow Test CoE best practise and take ownership of any test phases allocated to them. The main remit of test work will include the planning and scripting of UAT, either on behalf of or co-

ordinating with the appropriate business users. However, may include additional phases (SIT etc) if required and / or assurance of any third party testing that may be required or have a dependency on.

The Lead will be required to write Test plans and keep accurate records of all testing within their remit. This role is designed to focus on the more repeatable BAU updates and upgrades that do not form part of wider projects, some of which come on a monthly or annual basis.

There will be the opportunity to develop Regression packs for those that are highly repeatable and to explore the opportunities to progress those with Automated test tools, where feasible and efficient.

Working as part of the Core CoE team, there will be a number of Test Admin tasks associated with supporting both the CoE Manager and the Assurance Manager in maintaining and driving out best practice, good process and accurate reporting.

This wider view of the team will help with expanding knowledge, understanding and supporting any of the projects during peaks and when workloads allow.

The Person

We are looking for someone who is pragmatic, organised, good communication skills and self-driven. You need to be able to communicate and manage relationships with people at all levels in the organisation, be a clear communicator with the ability to adapt to different audiences, including influencing, negotiating, verbal, and written skills.

You will need to plan ahead and be able to identify risks and issues and have the ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem solving environment, with attention to detail, a commitment to quality and the ability to think strategically.

Day to Day responsibilities in the role :

  • Manage and deliver all testing for small upgrades, monthly system fixes and any other non-funded small changes within Project Services
  • Follow Test CoE processes to create all required deliverables in support of testing, test plans and ALM scripts for example
  • Work with stakeholders and business owners to ensure requirements are met and coverage is evidenced
  • Work with the business to guide and manage UAT preparation and execution
  • Actively manage all defects raised during testing with appropriate parties and maintain detailed defect records and retest evidence
  • Provide test analyst support for any other projects as and when project demands require it
  • Provide support to Test Assurance Manager and CoE Manager when required
  • Proactively identify risks and issues associated with testing and mitigate or escalate where needed
  • You will need to :

  • Ideally educated to degree level with a background in IT testing or Test management
  • Experience of handling several pieces of work at one time and managing own time appropriately
  • Experience of managing testing within ALM and creating Test Plans, Reports and Scripting as well as managing test execution
  • Demonstrable experience of test planning, understanding of varying test methodologies and general good practise
  • Experience of working with 3rd parties, Business users and key stakeholders
  • Experience of developing structured reporting and maintaining clear and accurate test records
  • Desirable knowledge of regression testing and automated testing / tools
  • Evidence of relevant test certification (e.g. ISTQB)
  • Knowledge and experience of defect management processes and test life cycles
  • Able to communicate and manage relationships with people at all levels in the organisation
