Siemens Mobility are recruiting for Cyber Security Professionals as part of our Military to Rail Programme. The Military to Rail programme offers service leavers and former military personnel the opportunity of a successful career within the rail industry.

This is our third time running this highly successful programme and we are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity to support your transition from the military into the Rail Industry.

Applicants for these roles should be currently in the military or have left the military in the last 2 years. We have roles in the programme available nationwide.

However, for some roles we may require you to be located within a geographical area or a commutable distance from a Site or Office.

This will be discussed with you as part of the screening stage. Siemens Mobility Rail Infrastructure supplies railway markets the world over with solutions and turnkey installations for railway automation and telecommunication.

Our customers are infrastructure operators and mainline railways all round the world as well as industrial railways and public transport authorities in cities and megacities.

The Role : Cyber-security engineers are responsible for cyber-security activities on a multitude of Siemens assets. The product portfolio supports both mainline and mass transit railway projects and includes safety-critical and safety-related products.

Reporting to the cyber-security Manager, this is a hands-on technical role requiring a detailed understanding of evolving threat trends and the technical ability to detect, analyse and respond to threats to our organisation, using a range of next generation security tooling.

The role requires the application of cyber security processes, techniques and standards to complex products, in order to obtain good cyber-security resilience in the products developed and used by Siemens.

What will be my Responsibilities? Analysing Cyber-Security requirements and defining security requirements for Siemens products.

Prototyping and investigating cyber security implementation options to support design decisions. Designing cyber security solutions that will enhance the performance of Siemens products in terms of security and producing any necessary software to support these solutions.

Working with the product development teams to integrate security improvements into Siemens products. Operating system hardening.

Supporting security analysis and testing, to demonstrate compliance with security requirements. The Person : The role of Cyber-Security Engineer will be suitable to those who have experience of military engineering, especially where this is cyber based.

What Qualifications and Experience do I need for this job? HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent in Engineering or demonstrable experience in a related discipline The ability to work in a team, including large multi-discipline teams.

Ability to understand complex products and systems. Experience of Microsoft Windows embedded. Experience of configuring operating systems.

Experience of configuring networks, network interfaces, firewalls, etc. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).

Appreciation of security issues in software development Following your application, we will assess your experience and qualifications against our business requirements and make recommendations for the part of our business we think will best fit your skills, qualifications and experience.

This will be discussed with you before offering you a place at the assessment centre. This assessment centre will take place at The National Rail Academy for Rail (NTAR) on 15th & 16th November 2022, with a targeted programme start date of 6th March 2023.

Please make sure that you are available for these dates, as we do not know at this stage the timeframe for future programmes.

Upon successfully joining Siemens, you will undertake an intensive 6-week training period before moving into a permanent role within our Rail Infrastructure business.
