Mitie is recruiting Full time security officers across various locations to join our rapidly growing Total Security Management team.
The security officer will be on a full-time contract with one of our brand-new prestigious clients, an industry leading food retailer

Reporting to the Operations Manager the Full time security officer will be responsible for (but not limited to) creating a safe, secure and trusted visual security deterrent for all colleagues, clients and customers.
internal and external premises patrolling, personnel hands off bag searches and any other security support required to meet the needs of the business
Duties of The Security Officer include :
Working together with Brighton & Hove Crime Reduction Partnership, partner BCRP locations, Police and Mitie to proactively deter and prevent anti-
social behaviour, theft and criminal activity
Work with BCRP and Police to assist in street issues including that of Street Community concerns like that of anti-social behaviour etc.
To offer targeted support to vulnerable members of the community, working to build professional relationships to respond to their needs and referring to other agencies (BCRP) as necessary
Offer support to BCRP partners, members of public and the street community responding to their needs advising in crime prevention measures
Ensure effective communication to officers and colleagues that create an integrated and coordinated approach to crime prevention and detection
Assist the BCRP partners with the collation of evidence and manage the subsequent liaison with Sussex Police
To work with the community to promote an exceptional level of customer service, encourage social inclusions, assist with customer service enquiries and reducing the fear of crime by establishing trust
To be alert to opportunities for community engagements and to work in close connection with local agencies and businesses, including that of Police, Fire and any other local government agencies
Ensuring behaviours and situations that endanger the health and safety and wellbeing of members of public, colleagues are identified, reported and rectified in a timely manner in line with the BCRP guidelines / company policies
Provide detailed reports to be returned to BCRP and Mitie management by recording observations, intelligence, occurrences and surveillance activities meeting agreed timelines in accordance with data protection legislation
Adopting an intuitive approach to the BCRP area taking into consideration local demographics and associated risks
Utilising conflict resolution to diffuse difficult situations that may arise
At all times, be mindful of the legal requirements associated with powers of arrest, detention and welfare responsibilities to ensure the personal safety of all MITIE, BCRP partners and members of the public
To detect crime through effective use of behaviour and observational techniques
Complete foot patrols of allocated route, providing a visual presence and reassurance to the public
Complete patrols within the allocated area utilising the designated patrol vehicle and at all times, adhering to the highway code and any local restrictions
Person specification of the security officer will include :
A full five-year checkable employment / education history
Full UK Drivers Licence
SIA licenced to a minimum of frontline Security Guarding level
Prepared to Work toward any certifications / accreditations that would be required for the role
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Confident and professional working approach and appearance
Able to communicate clearly and interact with people at all levels of and of various backgrounds
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service, client focused attitude with the ability to build good working relationships
Ability to work unsupervised, individually and as part of a team resilient and tenacious with a can do’ approach
A genuine team’ player and has flexible approach to working hours
The ability to identify triggers to conflict and use mediation skills to defuse difficult situations
