Walker & Son based in Leicester and part of the highly respected Samworth Brothers Group, manufactures a range of supermarket and branded pork pies and sausage rolls for all the major retailers.
Key Responsibilities :
Aiding the implementation of new products, processes and changes to existing products within the business
Organisation of the smooth running of production trials
Sampling of products to establish all necessary technical data from trial products is achieved
Establish all photographic standards throughout the new process or product
To produce department paperwork, to contain all data and process instructions for the production teams
To complete post launch tasks as required
Organisation of sample requests from trial work
To set up of systems for the introduction of new products into the bakery
To introduce new products or implement changes to existing products into the business using trial data
To work closely with the engineering and operation departments on current and new equipment used and equipment suppliers
To work closely with the NPD department on raw materials both new and current for cost saving projects and product / process quality improvement requirements
Liaise with planning and operational team managers to minimise disruption on the day of trials whilst achieving maximum information about the proposed product
To ensure that the trials are delivered as per the trial plan. Ensuring all aspects of the product are acceptable and can be manufactured cost effectively
To ensure the successful implementation of new product launches, new processes and changes to existing products are implemented into the business in accordance with the critical path
The Person :
The successful person will need to be a self-starter with good project management skills and the ability to work under pressure, be flexible to work around the needs of the business, as well as have good attention to detail and good IT skills.
Previous experience in a similar role or a qualification in a food science or related discipline is preferable and graduates will be considered for this role.
Be able to work to strict timescales and pressures of managing the customers through sample requests, visits and email / phone call communication where needed.
