Product Applications Engineer

The application engineering team works with market leaders providing consultancy on optimising their applications’ performance with Xilinx products (libraries and APIs).

The team supports a multitude of products and works collaboratively to share information and training. Problem solving is at the heart of what the team does and it achieves this through both research and active discussion.

This is a great team of highly motivated and engaged engineers ranging from Graduate level to Principal Engineer. At Xilinx we invest in potential and good attitude.

We are open to applications from graduates with little or no industry experience up to senior engineers with significant experience who are looking for a stimulating role within a great company.

You will provide support and consultancy to our customers’ engineering teams. You’ll mainly focus on our OpenOnload product, which is an open source, high performance, TCP / IP stack.

This role would suit you if you have a strong interest in networking, and would thrive on investigating and troubleshooting.

Working closely with the software development team, you’ll provide technical support for the network adapter product range, which is used globally.

We aim that our application engineers spend 20% of their time on core project development so that they are always very familiar with the product and its code base.

Requirements :

We are looking for engineers with a strong academic background. We provide training on the job and invest in potential. We are looking for candidates with the following skill set and knowledge :

  • Ability to explain complex technical topics in writing and in open discussion with customers
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate the needs / problems of customers
  • A great team player who enjoys being part of a dynamic and highly motivated team
  • Degree from a university in a numerical subject (e.g. computer science, maths or physics)
  • Proven commercial experience developing in C
  • Knowledge of Linux and Socket programming (desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of networking (TCP / IP, Ethernet) (desirable but not essential)
