Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill from building and highways, to large-

scale water networks and treatment plants.Reporting to a Regional Design Manager, you will be responsible for the production and coordination of outline and detailed mechanical design deliverables on combined process / civil / mechanical / electrical schemes, predominately in the water industry on infra and non-

infra projects as part of the AMP6 programmes we are engaged upon.

What you’ll be doing day to day

  • Ascertaining Clients’ requirements through reference to their specification documents and visiting sites with their nominated personnel.
  • A key requirement is the ability to determine the actual operational requirement and propose appropriate solutions

  • Working alongside the Design Manager and Nomenca delivery staff to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications whilst retaining appropriate levels of operational security and full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Promoting innovation and challenge parties involved to ensure cost effectiveness in all design activities
  • Providing outline and detailed mechanical engineering outputs from inception to completion of schemes, including working alongside site installation / construction personnel
  • Coordinating design production between Nomenca’s in house design teams, external design companies, our suppliers and subcontractors and where applicable our clients’ designers
  • Ensuring design work is completed to agreed programmes, financial budgets and KPI’s
  • Liaising with clients’ engineering staff to ensure designs are approved in accordance with required timescales
  • The experience we’re looking for in a candidate

  • Water and wastewater processes
  • BIM / PAS 1192
  • Water companies and their ways of working
  • Mechanical design of assets including pump selection, pressure pipelines, inlet works screens and grit removal equipment, settlement tanks, secondary and tertiary treatment facilities and associated works
  • Preparation of mechanical arrangement drawings, input to P and IDs, valve schedules etc
  • Hydraulic analysis of pressure pipelines including some surge knowledge
  • Selection and appraisal of suppliers and their design submissions
  • Preparation of documentation in accordance with the CDM regulations
  • Identification of the temporary works requirements of the permanent works design
  • Co-ordination of design at all stages
  • Be chartered or pursuing chartership with 5+ years’ experience within the water industry
  • The personal attributes we're looking for in a candidate

  • Possess an industry applicable ONC / HNC / B.Eng or NVQ equivalent
  • Desire to understand and promote the Company purpose, vision, values and culture

  • Flexibility, resilience and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels

  • Self starter who has the ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft packages (experience with AutoCAD software would be an advantage)
  • Be conversant with hydraulic calculations including but not limited to pipelines and pump duties
