Brand Manager - Foodservice

Based - St Albans (currently working from home due to Covid)

Role Purpose

Britain’s biggest grocery business is looking for an experienced and ambitious brand manager to deliver our expansion plans in the foodservice channel.

  • We are looking for energy, passion & agility as a key part of this role which will be to lead strategic brand projects (NPD / EPD / RENOVATION etc);
  • delivering products to market on time with a sound business case, driving incremental brand, category and channel growth

    Working alongside the Marketing Manager, this person will support strategy development and play a fundamental role in re-energising some of Britain’s most loved brands within the foodservice channel.

    The core category focuses for this role will be Desserts, Cooking Sauces (CiS) and Baking & Bevs (HB) with full accountability for the P&L and brand growth plans for FSV working in collaboration with the brand marketing teams.

    In addition, this role will ensure core ranges are fit for future by managing alongside the executive chef the benchmarking process to ensure ongoing insight loop is created, building changes required into brand plans.

    This role is a mix of interesting challenges Regaining market share in the categories through clever product plans, working across a broad and dynamic channel with close interaction with the sales team and customers.

    It is heavily rooted on growth through Innovation but in a holistic brand management framework.

    What you will be doing

    Working across all brands in the Desserts, Cooking Sauces and Home Baking & Beverages portfolio.

  • Implementing the in-year product marketing plans for Desserts, CiS and HB and other categories where necessary via development and execution of innovation plans & product renovation (customer insight, right level of product quality & functionality, packaging designs / user and legal information, right range profitability) that deliver long term, sustainable & profitable brand growth.
  • Contribute to the 3 year pipeline development in collaboration with the Marketing Manager.
  • Development of the specific components of the 21 / 22 plans alongside the Marketing Manager.
  • Keeping consumers at the heart developing insight led, consumer centric brand development projects to step change growth.
  • Involving detailed data analysis to identify challenges and opportunities within the current brand portfolio and managing alongside the executive chef the benchmarking process on all core range products.

  • To lead key NPD / EPD & other brand development projects through our commercial approval process with strong customer and category rationale supported by rigorous business cases and P&L’s to ensure maximum chance of in market success.
  • To lead and inspire cross-functional teams (specifically R&D, Project Management, CP&E, Supply Chain and Sales) to facilitate successful projects to market
  • What we need from you

  • Successful brand marketing / innovation experience within a market leading FMCG organisation
  • Experience working within the Food and Beverage industry and the foodservice channel an advantage
  • Someone who can make an impact and can demonstrate delivering outstanding results in a fast moving dynamic environment
  • Strong bias for action and high degree of personal accountability
  • Strong experience of working cross-functionally and leading projects to successful in market delivery
  • Experience of working with a broad spectrum of research tools (incl. market data, trends analysis and qualitative programmes)
  • A commercially and analytically aware individual (fluent in understanding and developing a P&L) who is comfortable creating and presenting business cases in an organisation which will only invest on the back of sound quantitative evidence
