Macquarie’s Green Investment Group is looking for a Head of Corporate Development to support its rapidly growing global energy storage business.
Green Investment Group’s global energy storage business develops, builds, owns and operates grid scale battery storage projects across a number of markets globally including Australia and the UK.
This role is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the team as the business looks to move to the next phase of growth in becoming a global market leader.
As Head of Corporate Development in our global energy storage business, you will be able to combine typical project finance investment banking with principal investing and be highly experienced in power markets and small-scale power generation to build our global asset base.
You will support our existing pipeline in Australia, UK and Taiwan and be instrumental in identifying new markets to enter and the strategy to enter those markets.
The role will be based in London, report into the CFO and comprise the following key responsibilities :
To be successful in the role, you will bring 6-10 years of experience as an execution banker within the power generation and / or renewable energy sector.
You will bring in-depth M&A and / or principal investment experience (including as a deal originator) and possess sound commercial judgement and strong presentation skills.
Complimentary experience in an operating business while not a pre-requisite, is desirable. Experience of battery storage transactions is preferred but not a pre-requisite.
You have experience of working on greenfield and brownfield infrastructure / renewables transactions within a comparable organisation, and can demonstrate solid origination and execution experience whilst managing more junior team members
You will have an in-depth understanding of at least one of Australian, UK or European power markets with the ability to manage and negotiate power market contracts for either energy storage or other small-scale generation.
You will be well versed in the power market regulation in at least one of Australian, UK or European power markets in relation to storage with a sound knowledge of transmission and distribution system requirements for grid services.
