Group Head Internal Communications Cobham plc are looking for a Group Head Internal Communications In this role you will develop and deliver the internal communications strategy and activities, relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organisation and its leadership.
To enable, facilitate and support the culture change needed to drive the transformation and growth objectives of the Company.
Develop and deploy effective employee engagement strategies and tactics, where two-way communication is seen as fundamental and integral to the success of the organisation and its employees, and where communication is seen as the business of every staff member.
Be an ambassador for the organisation by building relationships with key internal stakeholders to drive broader awareness and engagement for the organisations strategy with employees.
This role is based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire
As Group Head Internal Communications your main responsibilities will involve :
Manage and deliver the company’s internal communication strategy to support the Culture of Success and the Growth Mindset.
Work with the leadership team and staff to recognise internal communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
Exercise judgment to prioritise issues and opportunities, and prepare talking points and supporting material as needed.
Work directly with the Sector and BU leadership and Human Resources teams to plan and create communications strategies, tactics and activities that convey key messages to employees.
To produce specific campaigns to effectively communicate change and key corporate messages to all internal audiences.
Build and maintain effective relationships with key individuals and groups across the business in order to deliver the strategy.
Measure the effectiveness of internal communications messages and channels on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to review and amend the strategy as appropriate.
Provide counsel, training and support for key leaders on communications best practice
Monitor internal company issues and provide the communications leadership with regular reports.
Being editor in chief of the employee magazine.
Manage creative agencies and other relevant vendor relationships as necessary.
Create and deliver regular employee communications that support the Culture of Success.
Develop communication tools and processes to promote best practice within Sectors, BUs and Functions.
Other tasks as may be required as determined by the communications leadership.
Staff Development / Management
Recruit and manage a communications specialist to support the development and execution of the communications strategy
Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis, identifying and fulfilling training needs
Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals and administer salary adjustments.

Substantial internal communications experience at least five years - in complex organisations with geographically dispersed staff or relevant consultancy experience.
Experience of developing and implementing internal communications strategies, plans and programmes, and measuring their effectiveness.
Experience of advising senior managers on complex internal communications challenges.
Experience of successfully managing complex projects, involving multiple stakeholders, from start to finish.
Negotiating, contracting and monitoring of out sourced services
Experience of successfully influencing staff at all levels within an organisation.
