All interviews, assessments and background checks will take place online, to completely remove the need for face-to-face contact.

It’s important to note that most of our sites are now closed and employees are working remotely where they can. Where offices are required to stay open, we are following government guidelines on personal hygiene standards, daily cleaning of employee work areas, maintaining safe distances and limiting the number of people in the office at one time.

We also have clear policies on business travel and continuity.

The IT Operations Manager will ensure the timely, appropriate, secure and efficient provision of IT services, support and resources to the Capita ESS business, projects and programs.

The IT Operations Manager will ensure that ESS IT services and infrastructure delivery teams are aligned to business needs and deliver BAU, projects and initiatives across all the UK sites.

They will focus on commercial and operational efficiencies, IT security, stability, productivity and quality across the team and ESS business systems.

The IT Operations Manager will also work alongside and support other ESS teams to offer support, escalation and knowledge sharing to ensure adoption of strategic IT initiatives.

This is a UK wide role and will require travelling and the ability to manage a dispersed team and customer base.

What you will be doing :

Working with the Services Director on the strategy, planning, support and the execution of all technology initiatives related to datacenter, cloud, network infrastructure, service desk and field support services.

They will be a key member of the Services senior management team, contributing to the team and feeding back horizontally and vertically.

  • Take responsibility for the strategy / road map for ESS business systems & IT. Build strong relationships with key ESS stakeholders who will inform the road map.
  • Take on existing teams, gain their respect and create highly motivated and well-structured teams to deliver on the above.
  • Investigate commercial, operating and team efficiencies by creating and implementing processes and procedures
  • Manage and deliver all ESS IT Projects following the defined project framework, making sure implementations are in line with agreed standards;
  • compliant and secure. Projects are delivered in a timely manner, within budget and to customer specification.

  • Participate in the Change Management process, making sure all changes are processed according to defined framework.
  • Ensure that agreed SLA targets for IT Support are met.
  • Ensuring financial targets and other agreed targets are met in all departments.
  • Reviewing working practices to ascertain if it is successful and if not, devise an alternative.
  • Keeping employees motivated and organizing appropriate training.
  • Investigating customer satisfaction and reporting any issues.
  • Working with department heads and senior management to get the best performance from staff.
  • Driving the business to increase profits.
  • Reviewing and approving equipment needs.
  • Act as an escalation for your team and the wider IT Support functions across ESS. Take ownership and manage any escalated cases & major incidents following the defined framework.
