We have an outstanding opportunity with the Wey Education group. To strengthen our key objectives of quality, student engagement and scalability, we are seeking to recruit an Education Technical Developer who will support our Learning Innovation Programme (LIP) as part of our new three-year Education and scalability.

Working on either a fixed term or permanent basis; in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £20,000 - £25,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.

A home / remote working arrangement working independently will be in place.

The Education Technical Developer role

You will need to have a strong technical background, be used to working with Learning Management Systems and be expected to lead on development related to learning design.

Working closely in a team of 3 Learning Designers and 1 Graphic Designer. Each Learning Designer will be associated with one of our Faculties : Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences.

The successful candidate will report directly into the Associate Dean for Curriculum and Portfolio. You will work closely with the Project Manager working with Heads of Faculty and Designated Subject Leads to ensure highly engaging learning content and techniques are used consistently across InterHigh and our Alternative Provider Academy 21.

What makes you our ideal Education Technical Developer?

You will demonstrate : high level development skills (e.g. Java, PHP, C++), expertise and experience of working in the education or online training system, have knowledge of designing interactive learning experiences with students aged 8 to 18 years old, be familiar with educational technology, online and / or blended delivery and be able to bring value through technical knowledge to the design team across all subjects.

As our Education Technical Developer , you will need to haveexperience of developing applications for Learning Management Systems as well as the capability to analyze systems and assess development work required.

You will have worked in teams with external development support and have a good understanding about educational experience design.

Experience of developing virtual and digital experiences would be desirable.

Other skills and experience include :

  • Bachelor’s degree level
  • Design or teaching qualifications (advantageous)
  • Expertise and experience of development of applications and / or systems architecture ideally with education application areas.
  • Evidence of effective development work (via portfolio).
  • Able to troubleshoot problems and find creative solutions with lasting benefits.
  • Knowledge of user-interface design and development approaches.
  • An ambition to place Wey’s offering at the forefront of the marketplace.
  • Experience of training teachers would be an advantage
  • Change and business improvement-focused
  • Experience of working in the primary, secondary or college sector would be an advantage
