Within Compliance, Control team ( CTL ) has a specific mandate which is to evaluate and monitor the risks of non-compliance, reputation and misconduct that GBIS (excl.

PRIV) is exposed to across its business activities and operations globally.

Globally the CTL team primarily execute 2nd level controls and Compliance reviews and coordinate the risk assessment effort.

The role of the 2nd level controls team based in Paris / London is to check the pertinence of the 1st level control (1LC) framework by checking on a risk based approach the design and quality of execution of 1LC controls to manage regulatory risks.

The role of the review team based in London is to execute short onsite reviews of defined regulatory risk themes to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the Bank’s compliance set up (risk mitigants, policies and procedures, control framework, culture and conduct ) that has been implemented to meet regulators’ requirements and expectations.

The VIE role sits in the Risk Assessment, Monitoring and Testing team in SG London Branch’s Compliance Department. The team in London primarily execute Compliance reviews and 2nd Level control testing.

There is also a separate CTL COO function responsible for assisting the Global Head in the definition and implementation of the department’s global strategy and target operating model and the day-

to-day management of the global teams and deliverables.

Your role

Based in London, the VIE role is a transversal role. The primarily role is to provide active support to the UK COO in matters related to reporting, coordination and change initiatives globally.

Additionally, the VIE will assist the CTL UK team in carrying out reviews and other testing as necessary.

Your main responsibilities and missions will be :

Reporting, coordination and change initiative

  • Produce Management Information Pack and other key MI reports supplied to SG Group, SEGL / CPLE or the Business. Prepare ad hoc presentations and other support documents as requested.
  • Assist the COO in streamlining the production and enhance the quality of CTL reporting.
  • Support the Global / UK COO in the execution of the department’s global change management program and act as co-ordinator of key projects in which CTL is engaged.
  • The key projects include the management of the CTL roadmap globally and participation in global compliance initiatives within the Compliance Roadmap.

  • Ensure coordination of change effort when needed and chase responsible parties for update on their action until completion.
  • Coordinate the collation of remedial actions and recommendations assigned to CTL (Audit, Inspection, Regulators)
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of CTL annual plan which requires active liaison with compliance teams and senior management globally.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of collaborative tools (for example SharePoint) used by CTL in order to improve and optimize the way the teams work.
  • Thematic Reviews and Monitoring Reviews

    Participate in reviews and other testing as requested :

  • Participate in the scoping of review
  • Liaise with the business lines and other stakeholders to obtain information
  • Perform testing and document results
  • Contribute to the drafting of review reports
  • The VIE assignment in a nutshell

    This VIE in London is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment.

    It will last 12 months.

    The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.

    Your profile

    You are graduated with a Master degree from Engineering or Business School or University with general knowledge of Compliance and Regulatory risk

    You are fluent in English

    French is preferred but not mandatory

    You are proficient in Microsoft Office application (Excel, powerpoint)
