To meet our growing UK business needs and future developmentaspirations we are seeking a Project Manager for the Thames Tideway Tunnelproject.

Tideway's Super Sewer is upgrading London's infrastructureto cope with demands well into the 22nd century and reconnecting the city withthe iconic River Thames.

The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a 25 kilometreinterception, storage and transfer tunnel running up to 65 metres below theriver.

By intercepting sewage before it enters the river, theThames Tideway Tunnel will help prevent the River Thames from being pollutedwith untreated sewage which can stay in the river for up to three months beforethe ebb and flow of the tide finally takes it out to sea.

As an integrated Project Manager, Jacobs work with Tidewayto ensure all recruitment is inclusive.

The role will involve management of the MainWorks Contractor’s activities, to ensure they are delivered safely, to thedesired quality, on time and to budget.

This will demand administration of thecontract by the Project Manager in liaison with the rest of the ProjectManagement team.

A significant part of the ProjectManager’s role will be to work collaboratively with the Main Works Contractor’sProject Manager to ensure that the interfaces with all stakeholders areeffectively managed coordination with utility companies, local authorities,resident groups, etc

Key responsibilities and tasks :

  • Fullresponsibility and accountability for delivery of assigned worksite.
  • EnsuringContractor complies with the Works Information, and ensure contemporaneousrecords are maintained.
  • Maintain a strongrelationship with the Contractor’s Project Manager and site team.
  • Conduct quality,health, safety and environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliancewith the Works Information.
  • Chair regularprogress meetings and attend / contribute to wider team meetings.
  • Chair regularmeetings with stakeholders, and develop and manage relationships with criticalstakeholders.
  • Administer thecontract by working with other members of the team to write and respond tocontractual communications.
  • Perform schedulereviews to ensure work is delivered on-time.
  • Assist and workwith the Senior Project Manager and Delivery Manager to ensure that ThamesTunnel’s HSSE / CDM, quality, financial, risk management, business and policyexpectations are met throughout construction activities.
  • Provide motivationand direction to the team and mentor junior staff.
  • To lead crossprogramme construction themes , tunnelling, consents, etc.
  • Administer theNEC3 contract.
  • Manage the EWNprocess including the identification and resolution of project issues and risksfor the worksite.
  • Support Main WorksContractor’s planning for upcoming construction activities to ensureoperational readiness before works start
  • Qualifications Essential :

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering, ConstructionManagement or technical field.
  • Direct responsibility for delivering multimillion pound projects (preferably involving Underground Construction inLondon);
  • or Major civil projects in built up areas.

  • Significant experience of leading multipledesign and construction projects with a value in excess of £20m
  • Familiar with the NEC 3 form of contract
  • Desirable :

  • Member of relevant professional organisations.
  • Experience working within a client organisationand regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of industry systems, functions andmanagement tools necessary for complex project management.
