Position Summary

The position will be the primary procurement position for the site, that will run procurement processes to efficiently manage suppliers and spend.

This individual’s objectives include meeting company objectives as well as customer requirements, working with peers on synergies across the globe, but with a primary focus on the site.

This role is also responsible for the management of the Procurement Assistant position.

The position will also contribute to improving procurement ops (KPIs such as BO, OTD, Inventory, POs to Go, etc.) effectiveness and supplier performance to support organizational goals and objectives :

  • To improve responsiveness on on- time delivery and turnaround time
  • Focused on fast response to Customer service representatives

    Provide lead time / price alternatives within the current supply base.

    Collaborate with sourcing / category leads for achieving savings and qualifying alternate sources

  • To meet customer satisfaction through on-time deliveries
  • Improve supplier performance monitored by procurement

    Direct input into operations to improve communications

    Develop secondary routes to ensure continued supply

    Support documentation and other data requirements to be obtained from vendors

  • Act as Lead for the all Procurement activities of the Laboratory Chemicals Division site in Loughborough.
  • Represent procurement on project teams, working closely with Category Management, Product Marketing, Meetings, tier 3, nc items, supplier meetings, spec reviews

    Sales, Finance, Materials Management, Production, Supply Chain, QA / QC, R&D and Legal as necessary.

  • For all projects ensure that :
  • technical, logistical, and supply chain requirements are identified and optimized

    meetings are conducted efficiently

    risks and contingencies are identified and communicated

    senior management is kept aware of project status, resource conflicts, and any project risks that arise

  • Identifies root causes and corrective actions for project deviations, including facilitating problem resolution
  • between initiators and implementation teams.

    Working closely with the quality department to resolve non-conforming material issues

  • To support long term Procurement strategies, including AOP planning
  • To develop SOP’s, Process Flows and Ways of Working
  • Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities :

  • Negotiate the optimum quality / price / availability within the current supply base.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and initiatives in overall supply costs, service levels and quality conform the guidelines
  • Develop and improve procurement processes to limit non value add activity
  • Plan and manage purchasing activities according to relevant procedures to meet desired customer service levels
  • Resolve customer complaints with suppliers and report results and corrective actions to customer service / QC
  • Working with the QC Department, develop strategies to improve right first time supplier product quality
  • Work and coordinate with other divisions of the company globally to leverage materials and supply opportunities
  • Be a pro-active solution provider to customer service by anticipating needs and requests in order to offer a fast and efficient service.
  • Pro-actively manage the supply base to reduce risk and ensure continued supply of critical components, and manage supplier performance in the area of quality, service and cost.
  • Support the Regulatory Team by understanding and managing communication with the suppliers on topics related to REACH and other issues.
  • Develop and manage KPI’s for the Procurement Function at the Loughborough site.
  • Minimum Requirements / Qualifications :

  • Experience in purchasing, and e-procurement
  • Worldwide chemical market experience
  • Strong PC skills, Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of REACH is preferable
