We are currently looking for a newly qualified accountant to act as maternity cover working remotely with the London based finance team.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Working as part of the Group’s head office finance team with key tasks including :
Assist in preparing the monthly and quarterly management accounts, including reporting and analysis of cash flows, balance sheet and exceptional costs
Assist in preparing the year end consolidated statutory accounts
Ownership of consolidation entities and year end adjustments
Preparation and review of journals and reconciliations in respect of group exceptional costs, tax, IFRS 16, intercompany, treasury and Corporate entities
Assist in the Group audit process with Deloitte
Assist FP&A team with forecasting cycles (e.g. coordinate the group-wide exceptional costs forecasts with the divisions and at a group level)
Working closely with the (recently acquired) Insendi finance team to help with month-end processes and continue the transition to Study Group systems
Consolidation of balance sheet reconciliation summary across the group, including presentation of key risk and opportunities to the Head of Group Reporting
Preparation of the group transfer pricing and tax model
Provide ad hoc reports to C-suite and GET members, senior members of the Head Office team, Director of Financial Control and the Commercial Finance Director.
Provide a number of regular reports to the heads of Group Tax and Treasury to assist with intercompany settlements, dividend payments, and other areas relating to the Group’s tax structure to ensure compliance with all tax and banking requirements
Drive process and control improvement across the Group to ensure we would stand up to financial diligence
Other ad hoc tasks and projects, including the quick turnaround of analysis and urgent requests from the Group CFO, our private equity owners, and external lenders
Reporting to the Group Financial Accountant with certain work streams reporting directly to the Head of Group Reporting
Working closely with the Director of Group Finance, Group CFO, Group FP&A team, Heads of Group Tax and Treasury, Divisional Finance Directors and Divisional Finance teams in both Brighton and Australia
Experience / Skills :
Self-starter with a driven attitude
Role requires the hands on processing of data
Comfortable working from home beyond the end of lockdown
Capable of working independently and seeing tasks through to completion
Comfortable working for a global organisation working in multiple time zones
Ability to quickly and efficiently process data in our accounting system Agresso and to run reports to integrate the ledgers and extract data timely under pressure.
Competent to use our reporting tool Excelerator. Willingness to pick up and quickly master any new systems.
Organised and able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise appropriately
Work must be of high quality and will be reviewed and challenged by senior members of the team
Strong problem solving ability and quick learner’. Accepting that tasks will not always be straight forward with data easily accessible right approach needed
Advanced excel skills, as well as skills to scenario model and manipulate large data worksheets
Experience working with multi-currency and multi-location consolidations
Ideally audit practice background
Ability to develop strong internal relationships. Ability to manage and use relationships with operating divisions to ensure deliverables flow to Group in a timely manner and deadlines are met.
Strong communications skills
Interest in working in a private equity backed organisation that is ever-changing
