The Cost Stack team owns the overall cost stack, except operating costs, for the retail business unit. The team is the key interface between Wholesale Markets Optimisation and the Sales & Marketing teams, having direct influence over the process for determining the pricing and structuring strategy for Customers.
With Non Energy Costs and Risk Premia making up over 50% of our customer’s bills it is increasingly important to maintain the accuracy of our cost stack.
The team’s role is to analyse, understand and effectively communicate all the elements of the customer cost stack; providing appropriate challenge both internally and externally, whether that’s through attending industry wide meetings with National Grid or working with the Pricing teams across the retail business unit.
The Cost Stack Analyst will be expected to :
Provide the data, analysis and recommendations that challenges and improves strategic, operational and financial performance.
Work with customers to understand impacts, looking to create value in line with EDF Energy's aims & ambitions.
Work with other EDF Energy teams to understand industry wide impacts, threats & opportunities that can influence & support continuous business development.
Contribute to the Identification of new areas for investment and growth.
Nature and Scope
The role will provide operational and / or financial analytical support.

The data and recommendations provided by this role will contribute towards supporting business and financial decisions.

Collect data in order to interpret, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Produce, analyse and evaluate information using business & financial software packages and statistical software tools.
Develop & test analyses and models to quantify business performance, forecast future outcomes and recommend improvements.
Track, maintain and provide current information on operational, accounting, audit and financial policies, processes & controls, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and internal requirements.
Produce, present and communicate general and complex statistical information (Written and / or verbal).
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key business stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
Knowledge & Experience :
Has good knowledge of the energy industry / markets.
Has experience of undertaking analytical work, using good statistical and modelling techniques.
Has good commercial awareness & customer focus.
Uses a range of numerical, modelling and analytical techniques, IT software (MS Suite, database tools), VBA and other modelling & financial packages.
Able to tailor their communication style and / or approach (written & verbal), presenting & explaining complex ideas, displaying sound judgement and objectivity
Uses a range of techniques to influence and challenge business decisions.
Able to maintain effective business relationships with key stakeholders.
Able to act with complete integrity and confidentiality.
