But we’re only just getting started... What we’re looking for In a nutshell, someone who can get excited about growing our reputation externally, as well as inspire and excite our own teams through story telling.
We’re looking for a hands-on leader who’ll develop a passionate understanding of our business, and use their modern media savvy and relentless energy to tell the UW story in ways that help our Partners - and ultimately our own business - to grow.
What you're responsible for
You’ll drive all aspects of our communications activity from strategy through to execution, and ensure your approach balances our Partners’ as well as the business’s best interests.
You’ll lead a dynamic and motivated team whose knowledge and passion for UW - and all our idiosyncrasies - will engage, persuade and inspire people, internally and out.
You’ll help drive awareness and understanding of UW through proactive activity, and oversee the delivery of a varied and high impact calendar of communications and events.
You’ll manage stories about our business reactively and in a considered way. And you’ll seek out things which might be considered contentious and prepare appropriate responses.
You’ll develop relationships with key journalists, writers, broadcasters and influencers.
You’ll create innovative social media and digital marketing strategies that both enhance and protect the UW brand.
You’ll grow our profile online and help improve the quality of our presence on our own channels as well as third-party platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn.
You’ll work to improve online reviews on platforms like Trustpilot and Google Reviews, and develop relationships with consumer groups and industry bodies like Which?.
You’ll help to shape our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda, by articulating the sustainability and societal impact of UW through compelling activity that drives advocacy and engagement amongst our Partners and customers.
You’ll manage internal communications and help implement a new comms platform across the business.
You’ll work to align our commercial and people agendas, and help our People team to build a stellar employee value proposition.
You’ll support our programme of investor communications through the financial year.
You’ll work as part of the leadership team within Marketing, alongside the Heads of Partner Marketing, Growth Marketing, Creative & Design and Marketing Operations.

You’re fast without being thoughtless, and you prefer action to naval-gazing.
You leave the room - virtual or otherwise - with better energy than when you arrived.
You’re resourceful and a brilliant networker. You’re a strong and persuasive presenter, and are used to building support for initiatives amongst a wide range of personality types.
You’re not phased when things go wrong and have a few battle scars from skirmishes in previous roles.
As a leader, you work hard to inspire your colleagues and go out of your way to understand what makes them tick.
You’re empathetic and you build partnerships internally and externally based on trust and performance.
You champion professionalism and rigour, deliver broad programmes of work with excellence and have a strong eye for detail.
You’ve cut your teeth in comms, PR or campaigning roles, either in-house or at an agency.
And like all UW people, you’re motivated and ambitious, both for yourself and the business you work for.
