Associate Director - Transport Planning
RPS is looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join us as Associate Director based in London or Oxford (other locations will be considered).
Our Transport Planning Team, part of our UK Planning Division, is growing and to assist that growth we are seeking an expert in the field with extensive experience in advising clients on the transport implications of land use developments and ideally infrastructure projects.

You’ll be working with a variety of professionals within a multi-disciplinary environment, giving you the opportunity to be a key player in the success of the business unit as well as developing your own expertise further.
You’ll be responsible for managing client relationships, winning new and repeat profitable business and providing professional consultancy advice and services to both clients (private sector developers and house builders) and colleagues.
The role will see you growing and directing a team of professionals in their own discipline as well as working as part of multi-disciplinary teams, including, where necessary, assuming the overall Project Director role.
You’ll have line management responsibilities for staff and will mentor and develop their professional skills and capabilities, ensuring they are able to progress the careers with us.
Your skills and experience
You’ll be an expert in your field, a highly experienced and competent practitioner with strong leadership qualities. You’ll be used to working for consultancies and have extensive experience in providing transport planning consultancy advice to private and public sector clients in their promotion of land use development and new infrastructure.
You’ll have strong people management capabilities, be a creative and strategic thinker with strong negotiating techniques and a track record of taking ownership of and achieving outcomes for clients, business, teams and self.
You will have an established market reputation with a demonstrable record of winning sustainable and commercially viable projects.
Good financial and project management skills are essential, as are great influencing and communication skills that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies.
