This role is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation and support of Management Information (MI) and Business Intelligence (BI) across the Paymentshield group of businesses.
In this role you will be expected to work closely with key stakeholders across the business to understand their reporting and data needs, facilitating solutions and providing recommendations where appropriate with an aim to deliver Best in Class MI as timely as possible.
Outputs include, but are not limited to, the development of Paginated Reports, Dashboards, ETL feeds, ad-hoc data extracts and data marts, utilising the full Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, Mobile Reporting, Excel).
The main tasks of the role are to :
Develop the PSL data environment, ETL processes, and external data interfaces.
Develop reporting models that define relationships between tables in the data warehouse and simplify the report development process.
Partner collaboratively with key stakeholders and end users across the business to define and understand accurate business performance metrics and integrate these metrics into the PSL Reporting Suite.
Where this is not feasible, work with stakeholders to develop a plan to enhance the quality of existing metrics.
Guide the continuous improvement of metrics, reporting and data including, but not limited to, improvements in quality and efficiency, removing waste and rationalising similar data provided in different capacities across the organisation.
Understand the key requirements from multiple stakeholders and translate these requirements to provide robust analysis, insight and interpretation to enable the business to make informed decisions.
Interrogate core data used within the business to provide meaningful information; translating business requirements into specifications that will be used to implement the required reports and dashboards created from multiple data sources.
Transition developed reports and dashboards to the Operational & Support teams
Help to identify key emerging issues and inform key business decisions using data driven reporting.
Manage competing priorities across all areas of MI responsibility, ensuring deadlines are achieved and stakeholders’ expectations managed.
Analyse the quality of information available to Paymentshield’s business community and take appropriate cleansing and corrective actions, performing data quality analysis and testing
Develop and maintain documentation in support of Paymentshield’s Management Information and Reporting capabilities, ensuring database designs are fully documented.
Monitor the delivery environment used to provide Management Information and Reporting capabilities, ensuring consistency of data across databases.
Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports and dashboards for both external and internal users, including out of hours’ support for databases as and when the need arises.
Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members and training and assistance to users for generation of ad hoc reports.
Support of Database Administration and Reporting standards together with helping to document new standards and designs.
Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented for your sphere of influence
Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes
Ensure compliance to IT controls in all activities undertaken and be prepared to review constructively work undertaken by other staff members.
Carry out any other duties as reasonably required by your Line Manager
Key Performance Indicators
Production of reports, dashboards, data files and self-service facilities as specified and to agreed timescales
All tasks are completed to agreed timescales and standards that meet service levels and comply to the IT Framework
Ensuring that appropriate documentation is developed and maintained following delivery of new capabilities and enhancement of existing capabilities
Data Analysis and reporting follows agreed IT change standards
All Service Level Agreements are to be maintained across the department and all documented business processes followed
Meet your daily, weekly and monthly service levels
Deliver to agreed levels of quality and in the agreed timescales
Customer satisfaction achieved and measured.
To provide consistent reliable estimates of effort for tasks assigned (within 10% accuracy)
Production of reports to agreed timescales (no more than 5% of reports delivered late)
Production of accurate reports (no more than 10% queries on accuracy of reports received)
Ensure sufficient cleansing of data used for all reporting mechanisms
To ensure all automated procedures and tasks are correctly scheduled and execute successfully
To follow QA practises in the development and implementation of SQL Server utilities, practices and hardware, to ensure minimal post-
To provide input on SQL Server / BI related projects to avoid inadequate performance of hardware / processes and time delays of projects

Proven experience using BIDS and development in Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (SSRS, SSIS, Power BI, Mobile Reporting, Excel)
Proven SQL Server Reporting & Data Analysis experience, comfortable working with all versions of MS SQL Server
Must have experience with T-SQL Programming including complex stored procedures and an understanding of T-SQL enhancements in MS SQL Server
Must have proven track record of hands-on experience working with database technologies and architectures; including both logical and physical designs, data mart creation, ETL tools and reporting tools is required
Demonstrate systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving with the ability to clearly identify and communicate issues
Awareness of database tuning and optimisation
Good understanding of data analysis and data modelling
Appreciation of the Software Development Life Cycle
Capability to learn and adapt to new technical skills & environments
Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision

Proven experience of Data Warehousing
Experience developing Cubes in SSAS and MDX querying skills

Degree level or equivalent
