Here at Serco we are seeking an experienced Senior IT Solutions Architect to join our team. As a key member of the IT Solutions Team, you will work with the Enterprise Architect and IT Project Managers to understand the needs of the business and produce designs and define IT solutions for each project that address all the elements of the holistic solution architecture.

The successful candidate will engage with senior managers, suppliers and customers (both internal and external). You will play a key role in not just the solutioning space but also in project delivery working alongside an IT Project Manager and provide assistance in terms of technical knowledge and advice with regards to complex IT solutions.

There will also be a requirement to support on pre-qualifications, bids and new business.

The Senior IT Solutions Architect will have expertise in specific IT areas (Eg networking, security, hosting, data architecture, API / application interfacing etc), ideally with skills compatible to covering Government outsourced opportunities with practical experience of the diverse areas of Serco’s operations, whilst maintaining a knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies.

This role is positioned within the Solution Delivery capability within MyTechnology and reports to an IT Business Unit Delivery Partner.

As part of this you’ll :

Provide architectural guidance and design leadership to the Technical Delivery team to ensure delivery is in line with the design

Develop comprehensive and accurate cost models for solutions, ensuring the design is within the cost envelope and meets the business needs

Provide delivery execution support to the delivery team, supporting the change control process throughout the project / work package

Review the proposal of vendors and suppliers to ensure that quality inputs are deliverable and aligned to Sector Roadmaps and compliant with standard services

Ensure that standard components are used wherever possible in the architecture of solutions

Effective and innovative use of partners, best practice and internal skills and delivery capabilities

Ensure the solution complies with security standards and requirements

Ensure solutions are sized appropriately to meet non-functional requirements

What you’ll need to do the role :

A degree in IT related discipline or equivalent experience required along with an understanding of modern IT Infrastructure, applications and Cloud based technologies

Strong knowledge of current and emerging IT technologies

The ability to identify technical issues and design solutions to fix them, gathering and assimilating information

An understanding of data architecture is beneficial

An understanding of application architecture and application interfacing

Skilled at offering solutions to problems, along with being an analytical thinker and logical in approaching issues

Strong people / communication skills

Must be willing to undergo BPSS security clearance. In some cases, SC may be required
