Job description

You will assist with following activities :

  • Guarantee the HSE compliance with UK legislation for the duties and responsibilities (HSE risk assessment, permits / authorizations, training, etc.
  • of the Company, the Country Representative and the Project Director

  • Assist with management of HSE Management System according to the Contractual Requirements and HSE Policies
  • To ensure the mandatory and contractual HSE activities and documents according to STS role within the Consortium (Principal Designer and Principal contractor) and according to CDM2015
  • Mainly to support construction, commissioning and, in general, all projects activities.
  • Job requirements

  • Supporting the HSE Department to Identify HSE local Legal and Customer Requirements and supervise the correct implementation of STS activities (includes supplier and subcontractors) in compliance with STS Policies, STS Local Legislative requirements and Project HSE Management System
  • Assist with Site Inspections to our Contractors according to the Project HSE Management System
  • Management of the administrative HSE aspect and contractual HSE constrains
  • Assist the HSE Department with the maintenance of all aspects of Environment and Safety Management Systems in accordance with ISO14001 and ISO 45001 scopes
  • Provide HSE advice and guidance as and when required to the Company and its sub-contractors
  • Assist with the liaising of the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and other statutory bodies as is required to assist with obtaining relevant licenses, notices and all other Environmental requirements on ongoing basis
  • Assist the project team create a Safe Culture and awareness through innovative ideas and best safety practice
  • Participate in the reviewing process of the WPP (Work Package Plan), as RAMS.
  • Execute the HSE activities and report the results (Minutes of Meeting)
  • Ensure that Construction Phase Plan is implemented on-site effectively
  • Undertake Health, Safety & Environmental briefings and training
  • Carry out HSE site Inductions
  • Collect data for all HSE Key Performance Indicators and communicate to appropriate persons within the Company on Periodic basis
  • Assist with the Accident & Investigation Reporting and Analysis for Safety and Environmental issue
  • Attend and participate in the periodical HSE Management Review
  • Physical requirements :

    Due to the nature of works, there will be a requirement to work some Nights and Weekends as required by Planned Programmed Works.

    Normal Rail Industry Standards are followed regarding Management of Working hours.

    Essential skills / Licensing requirements :

  • 2-5 year's experiences
  • Environmental skills
  • NEBOSH certificate in Occupational Safety & Health or other training applicable (or working towards)
  • Member of IOSH
  • Membership of the IEMA preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience working in a Civils / Railway environment
  • Experience of implementing HSE policy and management systems on complex railway project : preferred but not mandatory
  • Effective working knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Experience of supporting Environment Management System : preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience of developing HSE risk assessments in operational railway or construction and project delivery environments
  • Suitable knowledge of UK safety and environment legislation and industry standards
  • Suitable level of experience in implementing and maintaining the ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 management systems
  • Drafting of HSE management and key performance indicator reports to the consortium team and client
  • Competent in use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Sharepoint
  • Any other adhoc duties as may be reasonably required
