We are a world leader in missile and missile systems development looking for a highly capable and adaptable Software Project Leader to join our team in Stevenage.
You will be leading the delivery of missile subsystem software into both the UK and the wider, international MBDA product portfolio.
You will be the Software Project Lead (SPL) for the Platform Product Line. The Platform is a middleware layer that provides services to the Command & Control, Launcher Management Software and Platform Datalink terminal (among others) for the for the current and next generation of Maritime and Ground Based Air Defence Systems.
The role includes all aspects of development, integration and service support.
This role is principally a Software Project Management activity but includes a very significant technical component. This role requires strong communication skills as there will be many competing demands on the Platform to support project deliveries.
This role combines project management, technical and team leadership competencies. Your team will include a team leader and an architect, you will be required to manage, motivate and develop your team leader to ensure effective staff development & productivity.
In conjunction with your architect and in collaboration with related domains, you will be required to help develop MBDA’s software engineering capability.

What are we looking for?
You will have excellent leadership and communication skills.
You will ideally have a degree in an engineering, science or maths disciplinecombined with significant experience in the development of product software.
You will favour a collaborative, open approach to development and have the ability to inspire others in order to reach, or exceed common goals and objectives.
The software that you develop will be used across multiple products and sites, so strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and -
influence others is essential.
Ideally, you will have extensive experience in model-based development, using UML and tools such as IBM Rhapsody.
