At Societe Generale, you will be joining the Global Markets division (MARK) of SG Corporate and Investment Banking. MARK offers a cross-

asset approach along all its offerings : Research, Investment & Risk Management Solutions, Execution and Prime Services to asset managers, pension funds, companies, private banks, insurance companies, hedge funds, family offices, sovereign funds and distributors worldwide.

The Global Markets functions is a trusted partner to external clients (Corporates, Financial institutions and Asset Managers) in market activities, offering a cross-

expertise in Research, Investment and Risk Solutions, Execution and Prime Services.

MARK / CTY provide a complete offering in the commodities space and :

  • Helps Corporates, banks, central banks throughout the world to achieve successful management and control of their commodity price exposure through the use of appropriate hedging strategies
  • Provides solutions to all type of investors : Execution and market making flow for funds on spot, futures, forwards and commodity indexes designing and trading capacity
  • Covers commodity marketing & trading on most of commodities underlyings : oil & refined products, natural gas and power, base & precious metals, agricultural commodities and emissions.
  • Leverages on the Energy and Natural resources Group which offers financing, advisory and risk management solutions across natural resources, energy, metals and mining.
  • Your role

    Your main missions will be :

  • Help in creating and maintaining tools to follow and explain PnL of the desk
  • Help traders in generating risk reports and participate in the booking of the daily business
  • Help the trading team by automating vanilla tasks
  • Participate actively in the follow-up on the various development projects the desk is working on
  • Adhere to business line mandates relevant to the role as directed by your manager
  • Your main responsibilities will be :

    Client Coverage Responsibilities (Internal and External Clients including market participants)

  • Provide reliable backup and support as required for other traders within the team
  • Maintain and develop strong interactions for both internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales, GLFI, - Syndicate, research, compliance, middle / back office, IT, Eng and Risq etc.)
  • Product Scope Responsibilities

  • Implement team business plan to develop SG business as directed
  • Support the development of IT tools and systems to enhance SG’s trading efficiency (e.g. automation, pricing engines, development of analytical toold and new hedging as applicable)
  • Knowledge Management Responsibilities

  • Maintain understanding of financial markets, competitors and clients to develop own knowledge and vision of the market.
  • Maintain up to date intelligence on market initiatives and products in the trading environment
  • Risk Management Responsibilities

  • Using SG trading tools managing / Monitoring the profit and loss of SG’s account. Ensuring respect to revelant trading limits and risk management.
  • Ensure full adherence to the SG Sales and Trading responsibilities including Sales and / or Trading handbook and regular training as applicable to the regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with all trading recording procedure and counterparty trades are within operating credit limits.

    Conduct Responsibilities

  • Responsibility to adhere to internal Policies that relate to you, your business or other businesses for which you have any level of responsibility.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure compliance with operational and conduct risk requirements (e.g data leakage, security policies and regulatory requirements).

  • Adhere to individual and where applicable department conduct rules in accordance with the FCA and PRA Code of Conduct rules
  • Responsibility for managing, controlling, preparing and escalating risk within the scope of your position and in line with existing policies.
  • Responsibility to ensure that you take reasonable steps to be fully aware of, understand and comply with all regulatory requirements from all regulatory and statutory bodies, trading venues, etc that are applicable to your role and business line.
  • To assist in the self identification of all conduct related issues. Ensure escalation to appropriate stakeholder or function whether internal or external.
  • Adhere to business line mandates relevant to the role as directed by your manager
  • The VIE assignment in a nutshell

    This VIE in London is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.

    The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.

    Your profile

    You are graduated with a Master degree from Engineering or Business School or University

    Ideally you have past experience in Investment banking / financial services industry

    You are fluent in English

    You are proficient in Microsoft Office application (Excel, powerpoint)
