Position Title : Commercial Solutions Manager Location : Todmorden Head office Job type : Full-time Organisation : Weir Minerals Europe is part of the Weir Group PLC, the business has been established for over 125 years and is a world leader in the design and manufacture of pumps, valves, cyclones, vibrating screen machines, crushers and other associated equipment for the mining and minerals processing industries.

The company has seen significant sustained revenue growth with output rising from £31million to circa £130million within the last 6 years.

Based in the North West of England we are a well-established company that is growing year on year. Our organisation currently has 800 employees throughout Europe with over 400 based in Todmorden, which sits on the edge of both Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

Business Need / Purpose of Role We are seeking a Commercial Solutions Manager to lead a team of Commercial Engineers and a Commercial Manager in pulling together budgetary cost / proposals and firm price proposals in support of opportunities identified by the Sales Team.

The successful candidate should be at ease in the consulting engineering sector as they will be providing costs to customers either specific technical specifications or for total engineering solutions, which will require obtaining internal costs for the selected equipment in addition to estimating and co-ordinating third party costs for supporting work which may also be required such as civils, ground works, electrical installation, conveyors, installation and commissioning etc.

Key Responsibilities Managing the Commercial Team, providing support for : Workload within the team against KPIs. Managing contractual terms for the European business Completing yearly appraisals and objectives setting, in addition to mentoring and coaching the team.

Co-ordinate all activities and reports for MEAs (Major Enquiry Alerts), Interco Enquiries and any other relevant activities, supporting the Commercial Engineers to adhere to SOPs, (Standard Operating Procedures), or acting as the role model, to ensure a quick turnaround of the proposed solution, utilising existing equipment prices and estimating metrics for civil, groundwork, steel structure and installation as required.

Review existing / revised flow sheets and assist in the preparation of the scope of work and costing requirements for the identified solutions.

Organising Handling internal & external customer enquiries for Weir Minerals products including pumps, process equipment (Sand Plants), crushers, valves and rubber products.

Entering them into the company CRM system, for follow up tasks and meeting Service response targets. Liaison with third party partners / subcontractors / material providers to allow the preparation of budgetary and firm price proposals.

Preparation of customer tenders based on identified solutions and ensure clearance in accordance with the companies commercial practices.

Contractual T&C’s and tender approval submission Coordinate Projects and identify the impact they have on the team and their workload in advance using a proactive approach.

Coordinate / Manage business initiatives as required. Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Effective consulting and communication skills applicable for operating in the international arena
  • Strong motivational skills, have good leadership aptitude with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Innovative and Adaptable.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve tight deadlines.
  • Awareness and knowledge of SAP
  • Competent using MS Office Excel.
  • Engineering Degree and / or HNC, HND OR BSc in relevant degree
  • Experience in estimating and quantity surveying working on projects from pre-tender to project delivery
  • Experience in detailing and understanding process flow sheets, equipment lists and plant solutions
  • Determination to succeed and influence the outcome (ownership)
  • Strong sense for identifying ways of adding value along the way (innovation)
  • Strong commitment to our business strategic direction

  • Negotiation, cost management and effective communication skills.
  • A good understanding of the Estimating process
  • Minimum of 5 years estimating experience
