  • The Role - IT Field Engineer

    We are currently looking for an experienced IT Field Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team.

    The purpose of the role is to assist the IT Infrastructure Team in supporting and maintaining the company's IT system and providing efficient desktop support to all business users.

    The department is also responsible for resolving any IT-related faults quickly and efficiently, including a broad range of queries plus enhancing and developing the IT provision extended within the business.

    The team support approximately 200 stores, 3 Warehouses and Head Office functions across multiple sites. There are in excess of 1000 users of varying degree of technical ability.

    As weekend and evening trading is essential to the business, out of hours support is required. Travel to sites nationwide with overnight stays are also required.

    Daily responsibilities include :

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance on the SLEEP PRO and resolve.
  • Repair defective SLEEP PRO units from spares.
  • Build SLEEP PRO units in new stores and remove from closing units.
  • Install Wi-Fi access points in stores and maintain exisiting units.
  • Set up new stores including PC / Printers and Phone Line installations.
  • Remove equipment from closing or relocating stores.
  • Software installation to desktops and laptops.
  • Fault-finding to laptops and desktops.
  • Reporting faults and maintaining logs on servers, desktops and laptops.
  • Patching of networks and phones.
  • Ensure all logs for equipment and users are maintained.
  • Escalate IT issues to the Head of Infrastructure where necessary.
  • Skills needed

    We are looking for an experienced IT Field Engineer with the following skills, experience and attributes to be successful in this role :

    Functional Skills :

  • Previous IT Support Experience in a similar role is essential.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
  • Strong practical skills building and repairing equipment
  • Hands on' approach and a willingness to learn.

  • Flexible and pro-active approach.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Personal Skills :

  • Use initiative when prioritising workload
  • See queries through to completion
  • Stay focused and meet required deadlines.
  • Strong team player who can work with a diverse team in a dynamic environment
  • Strong problem solving skills
