As a Laboratory Technician within our Cell and Molecular Sciences team based in Alconbury, Cambridgeshire you will play an integral part in achieving our mission by providing laboratory based technical support to colleagues working on studies.

Whilst training you will learn a broad range of standard technical laboratory skills and techniques including how to work to GLP.

The main responsibilities will include :

  • Ensuring compliance by performing study work in accordance with Study Plans, relevant SOPs and GLP.
  • Meeting deadlines by effectively planning and completing routine and assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Ensuring quality through accurate data recording and performing QC checks following appropriate training
  • Ensuring safe working practices in accordance with HASAWA and COSHH
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvements
  • Report any difficulty, uncertainty or unexpected finding to the Study Director and / or senior Cell and Molecular Sciences personnel
  • Operational Responsibilities :

  • Learn a broad range of standard technical laboratory skills and techniques
  • Take responsibility for routine tasks e.g. maintenance of cell stocks, reagent / media preparation, calibration checks, slide preparation
  • Conduct regular stock takes in relevant laboratory areas and order appropriate lab products
  • Show familiarity with the basic study set-up set up and preparation of study files and other documentation for study use e.g. controlled forms
  • To learn to conduct GLP studies. Studies that may be performed include, but not limited to : Ames test, In vitro / In vivo micronucleus test, Chromosome aberration assay, Mouse Lymphoma assay, COMET assay, microbiology and in vitro safety assessment study types
  • Demonstrate team working skills through effective communication
  • Relevant scientific GCSE / A-Level / BTEC / BSc and / or relevant experience in industry

  • GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths, English and Science
  • Experience :

  • Team working skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Previous laboratory support experience is desirable
