In Australia, RMSI has a strong presence in the Telecommunication, Utilities and Land & Infrastructure industries providing GIS & Engineering services such as spatial data maintenance, utility network management, asset data maintenance & GIS software development.
RMSI is growing its operations in Australia and is looking for a Business Analyst position. The person will be responsible for working with the utility business unit focusing on identification of gaps in business processes of its existing telecommunication, electric and gas distribution clients within Australia.
The candidate would be required to perform an end-to-end business requirement analysis of the existing work practices and suggest the best alternative system.
In addition the candidate would also be responsible for identification of growth opportunities and business development to enable RMSI solution its key GIS, engineering & Software development services in Australia.
The role requires the individual to liaise between the senior members of the client and the leadership team at RMSI to achieve the business objectives.
This position involves a very high level of responsibility and self-motivation with a strong background in GIS solutions, remote sensing & hands-on experience of software development on GIS software which includes ESRI, MapInfo, GE SmallWorld and open source packages.
Job Profile / Key Responsibilities
This is a strategic position with the objective of strengthening our operations within the utility domain in Australia and would help us in removing any inefficiency from our existing business processes.
Understand telecom and utility market dynamics & market needs and help conceptualize & create business requirements for appropriate new solutions and services focusing on NBN network design
Determine operational opportunities by analyzing business functions; gathering information from business users and formulating business requirements through conducting a series of UNA ( User Need Assessment) sessions
Using functional design techniques like UML( unified modeling language), workflow charts and diagrams document system specifications for solution development
Improve systems by studying current practices, identifying inefficiencies and designing modifications accordingly
Recommend controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures
Define project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases and elements; forming project team; establishing project budget
Monitor project progress through project tracking, query resolution, publishing progress reports and recommend actions
Validate resource requirements and develop cost estimate models
Formulating training documents for newer systems and deliver training to new users
Ensure successful implementation of the business solution fulfilling the defined system quality and reliability parameters
Work as a conduit between Business and solutions development team to ensure business requirements are fully captured in the functional solution, quality of the solutions is maintained and the system is timely delivered
Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and report
Additional Responsibilities may include :
Prepare technical reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
Plan and coordinate the development of primary and secondary market research studies in support of strategic planning and specific marketing initiatives, as required and presents findings of studies to key stakeholders
Suggest changes to senior management using analytics to support your recommendations. Actively participate in the implementation of approved changes
Identify marketing opportunities within telecom, utility, land & infrastructure domain for demand generation
Develop new business opportunities for network design and drafting services within the telecommunication domain in Australia
Develop and execute a strategic business plan which is aligned with RMSI’s core industry and services and meets or exceeds established sales goals and supports Company revenue and profitability targets
Participate at various industry forums, conferences, seminars and GIS trade events to represent RMSI and promote RMSI’s GIS solutions and services
Successful candidate must have the following :
Masters degree in computers or equivalent
12 years of GIS experience Software Development, defining business requirements, geospatial data creation, GIS Sales & Partner development
Strong knowledge of the utilities data model, data conversion , conflation and data migration services
Hands-on experience of working on the entire life cycle of a telecom network design lifecycle
Strong knowledge of GIS related platforms, systems and tools such as MapInfo, GE Smallworld, ArcGIS and AutoCAD Map
Software development experience on Java, Hibernate, Struts2.0, Open Jump, ArcMap, QGIS, AutoCAD, Postgres, Postgis & Oracle spatial database
Demonstrated understanding and application of complex sales techniques and track record creating, negotiating and closing multi-million dollar large-scale deals
Proven experience of sales & account management within the Australian market
Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, including people-management & leadership
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
