Department Overview

The Data and Analytics Transformation Directorate (DAT) was formed in 2019 through the creation of a new Executive Director of Data role and the transfer of the Data and Statistics and Advanced Analytics divisions from the Monetary Analysis, Research and Statistics area to the new directorate.

This role is based within a new Transformation Office within the Data Strategy Implementation Division (DSID) which itself incorporates the Chief Data Office function, to oversee the Bank’s new Data and Analytics strategy.

The new Directorate was formed in response to the strategic challenge of transforming the way we collect, store and analyse data, as identified in the Future of Finance work.

  • In the Transformation Office we translate the Bank’s data and analytics strategy into an actionable programme of change;
  • we represent the business teams in the development, oversight and lead of the strategic data and analytics programme and to be involved in specific projects within that including planning, executing and delivery aspects.

    Job Description

    The Project Analyst shall report to the Change Manager within the Transformation Office in DSID. The jobholder will be a key team member in providing project coordination and support across business and project teams of our major data and analytics transformation programme.

    This involves frequent interactions with team members across Data & Analytics, Projects and Programmes, Technology and Business teams.

    The jobholder will have the opportunity to lead project and business work-streams and start developing their own project / analytical / business change skills.

    You will be a self-starter able to formulate a plan and see it through to completion. You will be expected to think innovatively and develop an understanding of our business drivers.

    You must be confident in challenging existing assumptions and think laterally around problems to help us achieve our objectives.

    In addition you shall be responsible for producing reports and management information in order to enable decision-making by Senior Management, review of project RAID logs, secretariat to project and programme boards as well as supporting the Change Manager in their day-to-day duties.

    The main responsibilities are, but not limited to :

  • Lead project (or sub-workstreams) in delivering programme and project objectives and monitoring and reporting on progress against plan.
  • This will include developing your own plans and overseeing activities whilst being supported as necessary by the Change Manager depending on experience and task.

  • Supporting other business and technical workstream leads and programme team with project management tasks, including workshops planning, facilitating and documenting the output.
  • Supporting internal boards, committees and events (including but not limited to project & programme boards), through planning, preparing / circulating papers and taking meeting actions.
  • Assisting in the production of documents and presentation materials.
  • Routine reviews alongside the Change Manager of project plans, RAID logs and other project artefacts.
  • Communicating effectively and confidently with both internal staff and external teams.
  • Contribute to the project’s central reporting including updates and status reports.
  • Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as requested by senior management.
  • Essential Criteria

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate clearly in verbal and written communication, and adapt to different audiences.
  • Ability to interpret multiple sources of information to understand problem, draw conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Experience of meeting administration and management, including the planning, preparation, proceedings and post meeting actions and follow up, and ability to record accurate minutes.
  • Strong organisation and workload management skills including the ability to identify and switch between tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work accurately and to tight (sometimes urgent) deadlines.
  • Good IT literacy, particularly in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • A standout colleague, willing to help others achieve results with the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Desirable Criteria

  • Exposure to project and change management environments.
  • Use of MS Project or creation of projects using other software, e.g. Excel.
  • Project Management experience is desirable but not essential. On the job training shall be provided with possible access to off-job training provider material and courses to support jobholder in development of their project management capability.
  • Experience of working within a project or change environment.
