Clarks have an opening for an Application Security Engineer at the Company HQ in Street, BA16 0EQ. The main purpose of the role is to design, develop, implement and maintain Clarks’ application security controls and services to ensure that appropriate Security controls and processes are baked into the design and development of Digital platforms and in digital business operations.
Utilising a policy of secure by design’, the role will drive security into the development practices delivering Clarks’ Digital services and into the ways of working operated by the business functions (outside IT).
We really want you to come and join us, providing we’re right for you. Ideally, you will have proven experience in the design, implementation and operation of Secure Software Development Lifecycles.
The team is relatively new and undergoing a period of transformation, so you must be able to embrace change and be able to work in a dynamic, fast-
paced environment where significant improvements to application security is required. Proven evidence of success in a similar environment would be an advantage.
You must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad base of internal and external connections.
Strong leadership skills driven both from business and security perspectives to deliver security solutions which are aligned to Clarks’ business needs.
Production of application security design standards for IT solutions to meet business needs
Awareness of the economic aspects of architecture and solutions
Deep understanding of relevant privacy regulations, security standards and accreditations, e.g. BSIMM, OWASP, OPENSAMM, PCI-DSS
Ability to support communications teams where required to ensure correct security messages are presented in non-technical language.
Required Technical Expertise
In-depth knowledge of application security vulnerabilities, testing techniques, and the OWASP framework.
In depth understanding of secure web application development, Java, Java development frameworks, PHP, web services and SOAP.
Experience of web application and Agile development methodologies.
Understanding of SAP Hybris and unix server operating systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of IT and information security subject matter.
Knowledge of technical security architectural principles.
Able to prioritise workload and drive work to set deadlines.
Exposure to methods of promoting security awareness.
Strong communication (verbal / written) and influencing skills, with an ability to manage internal and external relationships up to senior levels of management.
Anticipates problems and identifies long-term implications of decisions and actions.
