Who are we?

Spacebar Media Ltd a group company of the Stride Gaming is a market leader in the online gambling space. We dream, develop and market really awesome games for our customers and have a great time doing it.

We live and breathe our Vision and Values and believe everyone who works at Spacebar Media has a very important role to play in making the company a success.

We won’t sugar coat it, it’s a challenging environment where we all get in and get the job done whatever it takes to ensure our products are the best of the best.

We expect all of our staff and contractors to :

  • Try their best
  • Actively participate in shaping their team
  • Be considerate and inclusive of other team members
  • Work with members of other teams and proactively help coordinate efforts across teams
  • Help us continually improve in any ways we can. We love to hear new perspectives and ideas.
  • Welcome management, but also be comfortable working independently
  • Software Engineering :

Our team of software engineers is responsible for designing, implementing, delivering and supporting software systems. Some of our systems have dependencies on services we don't control so we have to consider things like separation of responsibilities and testing strategies carefully.

We also have a collection of software systems that we are in the process of moving and modernising, in part, through containerisation.

We have a continual stream of business requirements lots of which necessitate new projects which we integrate to our collection of systems.

We're continually looking for ways to work in a more automated and streamlined way and we're passionate about delighting our customers as well as debating our favourite text editor.

    Software Engineering at Stride :

  • Making sure they have the knowledge of the system they are working with
  • Understanding the requirements and identifying conflicts or potential risks before coding
  • Designing a solution and presenting to the team so it can be polished if required and own by all
  • Being comfortable with legacy systems and compromises, but aiming for the change in the right direction
  • Being responsible for creating a deployment plan which includes valuable tests and ensures stability
  • Things you'll need to know about :

  • Java 8, Spring, SpringBoot, Spring Cloud
  • Testing tools like Junit. Wiremock and Cucumber are on our horizon too.
  • Relational databases.
  • Containers and container orchestration. Currently we use Docker Swarm and Kubernetes.
  • Version control - we use git.
  • Agile, in particular scrum.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, whether it's spoken, written or collaboration over documentation.
  • and most importantly - a willingness and ability to learn new things!
  • We use a wide variety of technologies and ways of working which means we don't expect everyone to know everything about everything.

It's more important to understand the concepts more than the technologies themselves and we happily invest in our people to build effective teams.

Mentoring and coaching is particularly important to us, we'd rather build effective teams than hire "rock stars". Our London office is very light and spacious, with a warm atmosphere, fresh fruit and tea and coffee as well as all the peanut butter you can eat! Please get in touch, we'd love to hear from you

As a UK based company, we operate on UK based office hours. Whether that means 9-5 or 10-6 is up to you.
