Main Purpose of Role

  • Responsible for maintaining and supporting Argo Group’s insurance / reinsurance pricing and risk management systems and tools;
  • vendor modelling software suites (RMS, AIR),working in partnership with Argo’s global outsourcing partners to support and implement infrastructure associated with the Risk Analytics environments while meeting strict deadlines.

    Key Accountabilities

    Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Install and maintain and support the modelling environment
  • Monitor and ensure modelling environment up time and performance
  • Proactively explore new technologies and automation to improve the process
  • Debug and fix network / modelling environment issues
  • Work with 3rd party consultants as well as internal IT and business groups
  • Support the users (modelling, Risk, R&D, Portfolio, UW, )

  • Required :

  • Associate Degree / BSc / BA in IT, Computer Science or relevant field
  • 2+ Years of software application support
  • 2+ Years of Network / Server admin
  • An additional asset :

  • 2+ Years of Cat Modelling software support (preferably RMS)
  • Cat Modelling certifications
  • Technical skills :

  • Windows network and server administration
  • Working knowledge of IIS and SMTP
  • Microsoft SQL server administration Clustering with focus on data quality
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Powershell, Chef
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and how to automate builds and deployments
  • Knowledge of insurance / reinsurance and catastrophe models is required (RMS, AIR)
  • Basic understanding of firewalls and networking concepts
  • Knowledge of ITIL and SDLC Phases are essential
  • Experience working with technology staff at all levels (developers, database administrators, application experts) responsible for the deployment and maintenance of complex software
  • Enterprise-level experience, familiar with enterprise-scale IT solutions
