The Software Asset Management (SAM) License Consultant’s role is to work with SHI’s customers to assist them in understanding their Software Environment.
The SAM License Consultant will join the SHI ITAM / SAM team and will utilize SHI’s best practice procedures, tools and people to assist our customers in controlling their software costs as well as the associated legal and financial risks.
The SAM License Consultant will be based in our Milton Keynes office. It is expected that this role will require occasional travel both nationally and internationally.
The SAM License Consultant will : Engage Sales, Licensing, Customers, and Software Manufacturers to help customers collect, organize, and manage customers’ licensed software assets.
Organize, normalize and analyze customers’ contract and purchase information to maintain an accurate and complete summary of licenses.
Help customers collect, organize, and analyze install / usage information to establish an accurate and complete summary of license requirements.
Reconcile the licensing (and the Product Use Rights, rules, allowances, etc. they embody) with install / usage data. Communicate accurate and relevant conclusions to customers across the entire life-cycle of a SAM project.
Responsibilities / Job Function
The successful candidate will be expected to understand all aspects of the software life-cycle from licensing to purchasing to deployment to decommissioning.
Execute all License Consultant tasks according to the project plans of all assigned customer engagements. Analyze purchase records and other entitlement information (including contracts, EULAs, EAs, PURs etc.
Research and understand Product Use Rights, license allowances, and contractual entitlements for software products and manufacturers (with a specialty in one or more manufacturers) Assists customers in the collection, cleanse / normalization, and management of software discovery and inventory information.
Participate and lead in customer communications across the entire life-cycle of a SAM project. This includes producing and presenting intermediate, analytical, and final results and assuring projects are conducted and closed to the satisfaction of all parties.
Collects and manages SAM-related information from SHI, customers, and software manufacturers Ensures all SAM projects are conducted professionally, ethically, and in a manner consistent with SHI quality standards
Qualifications / Minimum Skills Required
The successful candidate will be experienced in one or more of the major vendors of either Wintel or Data Centre technology and hold some associated accreditations.
If the accreditations are not currently held the successful candidate will be required to study and pass accreditations within a short period of commencing the role.
