North Somerset Council is an exciting and rewarding place to work. Our services matter to people and they are at the heart of the local community.
We provide support to vulnerable adults and children whilst maximising their independence, and we protect and improve the environment to make it a thriving and sustainable place to live, work and visit.
With a new senior management structure and a recognition of the importance of finance, we are investing in additional posts to increase capacity and support our ambitions.
We are looking for people to join our diverse and committed team, who oversee a gross revenue budget of £370m and a further £358m in respect of capital investment plans.
In particular, we want career minded and ambitious professionals who care about the services we provide to provide a strong corporate framework that helps the organisation to deliver its objectives.
In return, we offer flexible working arrangements, dedicated career pathways, variety of experience and learning opportunities and a rewarding environment.
There are 3 opportunities to work with services in the Adult Social Care, Place, or Corporate Services Directorates. Each of the successful applicants will be responsible for providing a range of financial monitoring, support and advice.
They should be equally comfortable with carrying out detailed analysis as they are working in partnership with front line service managers to understand cost drivers and business needs and processes.
Other key skills that will be necessary for success are the ability to adapt to changing environments and to continually seek more efficient ways of working.
Applicants should also be able to demonstrate excellent presentation and communications skills and an aptitude to positively embrace and influence change.
Whilst there is a requirement to possess a recognised accountancy qualification, we will consider applicants with good experience who have already completed a substantial part of their qualification.
