About the Opportunity

As a Head of Medical Governance you will provide leadership to all functions which own Code’ requirements (outside the scope of legal, TOV or financial compliance) to effectively operationalize activities in the UK and Ireland mitigating risk, highlighting potential issues and proposing solutions with an external and internal customer focus.

You will also oversee the framework of a robust medical and Code governance for all agreed activities in the whole of the UK / Ireland MCO under the accountability of the UK / IE Country Chairs, GBU Medical Heads and Medical country chairs

Key responsibilities

  • Ensures the establishment and maintenance of a framework across GBUs and the UK / Ireland to train, enable continuous process improvement and monitor / audit GBU compliance relating to the Medicines Act, relevant Industry Codes of Practice, and other regulatory requirements alongside internal Sanofi policies relating to medical and Code related responsibilities
  • Monitoring and pro-actively managing risk in the UK and Ireland. Provide a point of escalation and arbitration both across and within GBUs in the UK and Ireland to ensure an organisation wide and consistent approach to Medical and Code governance
  • About You

    To excel in this role you will need to have :

  • Educated to at least degree level
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Application of sound professional judgement to ethical issues
  • Ability to identify opportunities and threats and plan responses accordingly
  • An understanding of the external environment : the NHS, Government policy, regulatory requirements and their application within the business context.
  • Extensive understanding of the UK and Irish regulatory environment relating to promotion of pharmaceuticals via signatory status (ideally medic or pharmacist)
  • Significant experience in the commercial pharmaceutical sector with active involvement in copy approval, salesforce support and other Code of Practice-related activities
  • Significant experience in wider medical governance relating to clinical trials, risk management programmes, publications, events and congresses and interacting with patients
  • Experience and skill in managing issues under pressure
  • Ability to make difficult decisions when required
  • Strong communication, influencing and networking skills
  • Experience of leading complex cross functional projects
  • Proven Track record of Leadership or management of governance or compliance areas in Pharma industry
