Our company operates three large Garden Centre and Hardware Stores located at Plymouth, Newton Abbot and Exeter. Each of our stores require four additional full time retail staff / till operatives / merchandisers for immediate start.
Interview sessions will be held at each store each week until positions are filled - see below for details of how to apply / attend.

The work suits applicants who are physically able to lift and carry weights of 25kg and who will enjoy being on their feet all day stocking up displays, creating new store layouts, merchandising garden plants and dry goods and serving customers on the shop floor and taking payments on our tills.
We are seeking both younger people (16 to 24) looking for a career option which includes full horticultural and retail training and long term opportunities to improve and grow within our business as we expand and want to attract older applicants (over 25 and physically capable of handling the role) who feel they have good transferable retail skills or horticultural knowledge and could re-train starting from basic retail assistant and work up to retail store supervisor over a 6 month training period.
We want to pay above the normal rates and attract the better quality staff so we can offer good training but the work is physically demanding and takes place in all weathers.
Rates of Hourly Pay
16 years to 20 years - we can offer well above minimum wage - £7.50 to £8.20 - if you are exceptional and hardworking plus we can train you for a long term career with our company as we expand.
21 years to 24 years - £8.72 per hour - we will pay adult minimum wage if you can perform to a high level plus we can offer training for you to advance to supervisor level over a 6 month period if you are interested and review your pay once you have learned staff management skills and responsibilities
25 years and above - £9 per hour - if you have good retail experience / horticultural skills and enjoy physical working in all environments then why come us and help create beautiful amazing garden stores packed full of flowering plants and great products.
We can in time train you how to run a department or area of the store or even supervise the whole store and in time you could increase your pay to £10 / £11 per hour.
10% More Pay Available - Join Bonus Scheme by Invitation
After 6 months we can offer the option of joining our company wide performance bonus scheme that increases your hourly rate of pay by 10% - so you could be earning 10% more than the above hourly rates if invited on to the scheme
Please note : Starting pay will be minimum wage for first 4 weeks while we assess your ability and work ethic. Once we can judge your ability and capabilities then we can increase pay in line with above hourly rates for your age.
Our company is the South West's fastest growing garden centre business focussed on selling plants and hardware in stores located across Devon and Somerset.
We seek intelligent bright hard working employees who either want the security of a permanent long term role working in our centres or who seek to train to eventually become one of our valued garden store supervisors / managers.
Ideally we seek applicants who enjoy and are used to physical hands on work. All our store managers and supervisors are very much hands on, leading our staff teams each day to merchandise, clean and operate our stores effectively.
Please note : At peak trading times all key staff and supervisors will need to work 5 / 6 days per week depending on the needs of the business.
This will include weekend days and bank holidays during March to June each year and we are busy during late November and early December when we sell Christmas Trees.
On busy weeks you may need to work between 40 to 50 hours to help with peak trading but usually working hours will be between 30 to 45 most weeks.
As you are paid hourly then the more you work the more you earn - plus there is a performance bonus that offers 10% extra to your hourly rate if you and the company are successful.

After a brief friendly interview in store, successful applicants will be required to attend a work trial and after this you can start work immediately.
Corona Virus - Retail work does involve close working with other employees and customers. If you are particularly concerned about these issues and feel that this would be unacceptable then these retail shop floor roles would not be suitable for you.
We run the stores safely and follow usual safe practice but there will always be risk when working in any retail environment and applicants are advised to consider this when applying.
