Teaching Personnel are currently seeking new Learning Support Assistants in the Basingstoke area to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) catering for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) pupils with complex needs.
The attending pupils are either students that have been suspended from mainstream school, or are awaiting their EHCP (Education, Health Care Plan).
The needs of attending pupils are varied, but may include :
The school is easy driving distance from Southampton and the New Forest, as well as regular public transport routes from central Southampton.
The Role :
Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting teachers and fellow support workers on a 1 : 1 or 2 : 1 basis with pupils.
The role will operate between 8 : 30 - 15 : 30, Monday - Friday.
The Candidate :
Ideal applicants should have previous experience working with complex behaviour or challenging needs professionally. Without school experience any professional experience with the following could help the candidate succeed in this role :
Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting teachers and fellow support workers on a 1 : 1 or 2 : 1 basis with pupils, so should have a passion for mentoring pupils closely through their differentiated curriculum.
