Role Purpose : To lead the translation of commercial briefs and creative direction, into compelling graphic designs that are on-brand & relevant for product apparel lines and hard goods.
You will also support the Design Lead with graphic workload management, and mentoring creative talent to ensure our graphic aesthetics are delivered to the highest level while retaining commercial viability.
Responsible for own portfolio of work & the workload of direct reports, ensuring that the brand DNA and seasonal strategies are implemented through all concepts and designs
Responsible for conceptualising and delivering against seasonal creative direction and product briefs, whilst maintaining Brand DNA and guidelines
Research and contribute in the creation of seasonal creative direction, graphic trend overviews, colour and mood boards
Deliver consumer focused graphic designs aligned with overall range direction, and which achieve commercial targets
Ensure graphic designs have a coherent and compelling offer so that they seamlessly merchandise into product categories and ranges.
Responsible for delivering allocated designs, on time based on seasonal milestones & deadlines; from concept through to CAD work, colour overviews, creation of technical specifications and updates.
Push creative boundaries whilst delivering against commercial opportunities
Contribute towards cost saving solutions to achieve seasonal margin target whilst retaining creativity
Contribute, as required, to updating and maintaining Visual Brand Identity aligned to brand positioning and DNA
Deliver graphic designs in a clear and concise format and present at design reviews.
Attend and present at key stage gate meetings, creating professional presentations to clearly portray ideas, trend research, colour and style overviews in Photoshop and / or Illustrator
Actively participate in proto reviews ensuring graphic design integrity is maintained through to final sign-off
Work with Product Designers to create comprehensive design tech packs for factories and where appropriate present this to buyers and suppliers
Actively research the market and trends, looking further than immediate scope of work and produce detailed reports following each research visit.
Lead the creation of hot market’ opportunities and produce designs with speed and agility in line with company requirements and partner expectations
Maintain communication with superiors throughout the process ensuring your message is clearly understood
Undertake any other duties and / or responsibilities as may reasonably be required by management from time to time
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the fashion / sports apparel industry.
Qualification in Graphic Design or similar.
High proficiency in Photoshop & Illustrator. Some knowledge on InDesign preferred but not essential.
Ability to edit, retouch & resize images with speed & accuracy.
Self-motivating, driven, & confident
Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment under short deadlines.
Ability to take constructive feedback on board.
Strong creative portfolio
Fully coherent of both the design techniques and product development processes relating to graphics, including a keenness to keep up-to-date with the latest print techniques.
Enthusiastic about design, inspiring, creative, forward-thinking and energetic
