An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for an Environmental Engineer with our global automotive client in Sunderland.

The successful engineer will be responsible for all aspects of Environmental Management System (EMS) within a motor vehicle plant including legislation compliance;

liaison with regulators and industry representatives.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Engineer include :

Responsible for all aspects of EMS including System development and lead site environmental compliance

Delivering staff training and awareness

Setting and monitoring environmental objectives and targets

Management of the emissions monitoring contract

Liaison with local Regulators including the city Council and Environment Agency

Assessment of legal compliance

Coordination of legal permits and development of strategy for compliance with new and pending requirements from legislation, external bodies and EMS

Provision of compliance advice to all of the plant’s departments and Engineering sections

You will have an Environmental Science or Environmental Management qualification (degree level or equivalent) and have a deep and thorough knowledge of environmental legislation and ISO 14001 implementation.

You will also need a good understanding of air, water and waste pollution impacts and control techniques, with the ability to liaise with environmental regulators

There will be opportunities for you to meet with local councils and represent the business with external bodies including Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and host external audits from Vehicle Type Approvals.
