This role is based within our Global Technical Operations team here at Mimecast London.

Mimecast Engineers are technical experts who love being in the center of all the action and play a critical role in making sure our technology stack is fit for purpose, performing optimally with zero down time.

In this critical role you will tackle a range of complex software and system issues with the primary aim of building efficient, scalable environments for Mimecast product deployments and software releases.


  • Ensure build infrastructure is functioning effectively and efficiently.
  • Liaise with various software engineering teams, assisting on build issues, configuration and deployment of artifacts.
  • Pro-actively assess build infrastructure requirements based on monitoring and thresholds.
  • Apply good CI and CD principles (best practice) in supporting the build life cycle.
  • Champion Project Management and Tracking tools in your day to day contribution.
  • Continuously strive to automate build environment tasks and be proactive in improving existing process and environment.
  • Contribution in a DevOps culture and be comfortable with a continuous delivery environment.
  • You will work independently with minimal supervision, have an ability to quickly adapt in a constantly changing environment.
  • Performing your duties in a fast paced, pressurized environment and have an ability to wear multiple hats simultaneously.
  • Continuously identifying and evangelizing new tools, ideas and processes.
  • Essential skills and experience :

  • Linux system administration including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Good scripting skills in either : Shell, Ruby, Perl, Python.
  • Extensive Java Build environment exposure.
  • Knowledge in one of more of the following build tools : Maven, Ant, MSbuild.
  • Knowledge of source code management through SVN, Git, Mercurial.
  • Knowledge of code review methodologies and tools (Github, Gitlab).
  • Knowledge and experience of Continuous Integration tools specifically Jenkins (Hudson, Team City, Nexus, Artifactory).
  • Experience with issue management tools like Jira, Bugzilla.
  • Experience with collaboration tools like Confluence, MediaWiki, TWiki.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery methodologies in a fast paced environment.
  • Desirable skills and experience :

  • Proficient with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with docker or other container technologies
  • Administering Windows environments.
  • Working with VMWare infrastructure.
  • Experience in one or more configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt Stack.
  • Ability to read Java code.
  • Understanding of tools like Gradle, Rake, Groovy, Vagrant.
