Job Description

The successful candidate will :

  • Work as a fully integrated member of the Waterfront Team; conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on Fire Control (FC) systems, Ships Data Systems (SDS), Launcher and Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS).
  • Provide technical advice and support to management, TSPT and other stakeholders to ensure that customer needs are met.
  • Assist the Waterfront Associate Manager and team in the production of presentations and technical reports support of customer and stakeholder meetings.
  • Required to travel within the UK and to the US to attend meetings, undertake training and provide engineering support.
  • Must be willing and able to go to sea occasionally for short periods.

    Business Environment

    Lockheed Martin UK Strategic Systems (LMUK SS) is the single contractor providing specialist Waterfront In-Service Support to the Royal Navy's Trident Strategic Weapon System (SWS).

    The company plays a supporting role in the operational readiness of the nation's nuclear deterrent on board VANGUARD class Trident Submarines and provides the Ministry of Defence (MoD) with safe, efficient and responsive support.

    LMUK SS, as part of the ABL Alliance with AWE and Babcock, is also responsible for the management of operations at the Royal Naval Armaments Depot Coulport (RNAD(C)).

    Looking to the future, LMUK SS supports the joint US and UK submarine design efforts in New London Connecticut and Barrow-in Furness.

    Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • An established mechanical and electrical hands on working background.
  • Pro-active approach to providing solutions to emergent challenges and take ownership of tasks delegated.
  • Good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in working within a highly prescriptive environment.
  • Promotion of a positive culture towards Health and Safety.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Software suite.
  • Desired skills, qualifications and experience

  • A good working knowledge of at least one of the SWS systems, ideally including Fire Control (FC), Ships Data Systems (SDS), Launcher or Strategic Weapons Support Systems (SWSS).
