About the role

Here at Babcock International we’re looking to recruit a Driver.

You’ll be responsible to the Transport Services Manager via the Transport Services Senior Controller / Scheduler for providing driving task support as detailed in the transport services daily schedule seven days a week 365 days per year.

Main duties will include driving and refuelling, washing, vacuuming and checking vehicle fluids and tyre condition of all vehicles.

You must be flexible to change in meeting the customer’s requirement at very short notice and you’ll need to have the ability to drive anywhere in the UK as required by the customer.

You must understand driver’s hours and working time directive.

Main Tasks :

  • Carry out your driving duties on and off station with the scope of current Road Traffic Legislation, Transport Law and Service Publications.
  • Conduct before / after use checks daily in accordance with (IAW) vehicle specifications and requirements.
  • Ensure all Transport Services Driver and vehicle documentation is completed in accordance with (IAW) relevant publications.
  • Drivers operating O’Licence vehicles are given a minimum of 15 minutes to complete their vehicle walk round checks and documentation before the task commences.

    A record of the walk round / documentation checks must be shown as other work on the driver’s tachograph record. All Drivers must record their duty and driving time in the company issued Driver's hours book.

  • Ensure all vehicle defects are reported to the transport services Control Staff in accordance with (IAW) legislation and service publications.
  • Ensure the correct completion and maintenance of the Driver’s record books and Driver digital card print outs. All Drivers must be in possession of their Driving Licence, Driver Qualification Card (DQC) and digital tachograph card at all times.
  • All Vocational Drivers operating under (EU) rules must be able to produce when requested the current day plus the previous 28 days’ worth of tachograph records.

    What do I need to do the role?

    You’ll need experience in large coach driving and LGV driving. You must also have a PCV Coach licence, a LGV truck licence and a Driver CPC card.

  • Your working hours will be 7.5 hours per day Monday to Friday : 06 : 00 to 14 : 30, 08 : 00 to 16 : 30, or 12 : 00 to 20 : 30.
  • Some overtime including weekend work required.
