Financial Accountant

Kier Workplace Services (KWS) are looking to recruit a Financial Accountant to be based in our offices in Basingstoke.

The post holder will become a key member of the KWS Finance team responsible for the financial reporting, compliance & governance and functional transformation activity across the KWS business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the consolidated financial reporting for KWS.
  • Delivery of all KWS management and statutory accounting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all local & Kier group policies and IAS & regulatory requirements across KWS.
  • In conjunction with the lead Finance Business Partners and FP&A manager, development and implementation of the functional strategy as aligned to KWS’ strategy
  • Implementation and maintenance of relevant controls and governance to ensure the Business Stream complies with legal, regulatory, Kier Group and KWS standards and policies in the financial arena
  • Develop (with operational & functional management), implement and monitor relevant targets and improvement plans at Business Stream and contract / project level to ensure targets are met or exceeded
  • Ensure the finance team (both directly managed and virtual) is sufficient in capability and capacity to deliver its role.
  • Line manage part of the local team to maximise performance and develop employees in line with their aspirations and potential.
  • Ensure key risks are highlighted and visible to the business, with mitigation plans developed, implemented and monitored
  • Ensure that continuous improvement plans and schedules are developed and deployed effectively to improve the cost and performance of the finance function and the Business Streams.
  • Ensure best practice is shared and implemented.

  • Develop appropriate customer relationships within the Business, wider Group and with external advisors. Lead, where necessary, financial discussions to achieve a positive outcome for KWS
  • Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA orCIMA), or in exceptional circumstances part-qualified with extensive reportingand business experience in a well-controlled environment
  • Strong knowledge of IFRSparticularly with regard to revenue recognition and contract accounting,including knowledge of potential changes and their implications.
  • Knowledge of Kier systems andprocesses
  • Experience of delivery of changemanagement and process / continuous improvement
  • Experience of statutory reportingin a complex PLC business environment
  • Experience of governancerequirements of listed companies (preferably in a multi-site environment)
  • Strong knowledge of B2B servicesand project businesses gained in a variety of roles
  • Strong ability to influencestakeholders within and outside the business through a range of techniques
  • Strong presentation skills, bothwritten and verbal, including a good ability to communicate financial conceptsto non-financial people
  • People management and developmentexperience, demonstrating the ability to create a high performing team and apositive culture
  • High level of integrity andresilience
  • Ability to set objectives, takepersonal responsibility and work towards objectives with limited supervisionand direction

  • Focus on problem solving ratherthan apportioning blame
  • Comfortable in holding senior andmore junior staff to account in a professional manner
